    Sammanfattning : In the growing field of on-scalp magnetoencephalography (MEG), brain activity is studied by non-invasively mapping the magnetic fields generated by neuronal currents with sensors that are flexibly placed in close proximity to the subject's head. This thesis focuses on high-temperature superconducting magnetometers made from YBa2Cu3Ox-7 (YBCO), which enables a reduction in the sensor-to-room temperature standoff distance from roughly 2 cm (for conventional MEG systems) down to 1 mm. 3. 3. Differential Magnetic Biosensor using HTS SQUID Gradiometer

    Författare :Sobhan Sepehri; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; high-Tc SQUID; magnetic bioassay; diagnostics; RCA; microfluidics; magnetic nanoparticle; point-of-care; rolling circle amplification; differential ac susceptibility; biosensor;

    Sammanfattning : A fundamental tool for containing an epidemic outbreak and mitigating its effects is early diagnostics. Currently, most of the diagnostic tests are performed by trained staff in centralized labs, which are expensive and time-consuming to establish and operate. Lack of access to such facilities could have devastating effects. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Parametric interactions with signals and the vacuum

    Författare :Michael Roger Andre Simoen; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; vacuum; circuit-QED; interferometer; SQUID; dynamical Casimir effect; multimode resonator; pumpistor; mode conversion; superconducting circuits; parametric amplification;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis I present different experiments on superconducting circuits exploring parametric interactions with external signals and the vacuum in the microwave regime. These parametric processes are the result of the periodic modulation of a property of a system which results in different interactions. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Tunable superconducting resonators, subharmonic oscillations and manipulation of microwaves

    Författare :Ida-Maria Svensson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; circuit-QED; tunable superconducting resonators; subharmonic oscillations; parametric oscillations; microwave manipulation; frequency down-conversion; driven nonlinear systems; superconducting resonator; SQUID; tunable resonator;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis I present different types of manipulations of microwave fields using tunable superconducting resonators. A resonator is made tunable by adding one or more superconducting quantum interference devices, SQUIDs. The SQUID consists of a superconducting loop with two Josephson junctions and acts as a tunable nonlinear inductor. LÄS MER
