    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; EU competition law; WTO law; public international law; antitrust; merger appraisal; dispute settlement; world trade; law and economics; comparative law; effects-based approach; theories of harm; definition of the relevant market; damages; fines; quantification; discrimination; less favourable treatment; national treatment; MFN treatment; GATT; GATS; TBT Agreement; SPS Agreement; SCM Agreement; Anti-Dumping Agreement; subsidies; anti-dumping; countervailing duties; Europarätt; European Integration Law; Public International Law; Folkrätt; Civil Law; Civilrätt;

    Sammanfattning : Having recently registered the 500th dispute at its docket, the WTO dispute settlement system is as prolific and relevant as ever. By almost any measure, it is a great success; it has contributed to bolstering the WTO’s legitimacy, increased the judicialisation of WTO Members’ trade relations, and promoted the scientification of public international law. 2. 2. Trade Liberalisation, Health Protection, and the Burden of Proof in WTO Law

    Författare :Joachim Åhman; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; burden of proof; trade liberalisation; health protection; WTO; SPS Agreement; GATT 1994; scientific evidence; risk;

    Sammanfattning : When a Member of the World Trade Organization (WTO) adopts a measure which it considers is necessary to protect against a health risk, but which constitutes a barrier to international trade in goods, there is a conflict of interests. If the measure is removed, the health protection interest is affected negatively. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Characterization of the Alzheimer's disease-associated clac protein

    Författare :Linda Söderberg; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most prevalent form of dementia in elderly people and is neuropathologically characterized by the presence of extracellular senile plaques (SPs) in the brain. SPs are mainly composed of the amyloid beta-peptide (Abeta), proteolytically derived from the amyloid beta-precursor protein by sequential cleavages performed by beta- and gammasecretase, to generate Abeta species of 40 and 42 amino acids, respectively. 4. 4. Mini-Jet Production in Proton-Antiproton Interactions and Particle Production in Heavy-Ion Collisions

    Författare :Haiqiao Wang; Partikel- och kärnfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; proton antiproton interaction; Quark-gluon plasma; dynamical fluctuation; intermittency; limiting fragmentation; intranuclear cascading; target fragmentation; heavy-ion collision; image processing; mini-jet; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Fysicumarkivet A:1997:Wang;

    Sammanfattning : The thesis is based on the data analysis and detector development of the EMU01/CERN, E863/BNL and UA1/CERN experiments. Particle fluctuations are studied with the scaled factorial moments in the fragmentation region of oxygen-induced emulsion interactions from 3.7 to 200 A GeV. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Economic Applications of Product Quality Regulation in WTO Trade Agreements

    Författare :Natalie Pienaar; Henrik Horn; Joseph Francois; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Economics; Nationalekonomi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis comprises three theoretical essays on the economic applications of product quality regulation in WTO Agreements:Economic Applications of the WTO Consistency Requirement Article 5.5 (consistency) of the SPS Agreement requires countries to avoid arbitrary distinctions in health protection on goods that are associated with the same disease, if such distinctions result in discrimination or a disguised restriction on trade.
