1. Theoretical Study on Chemical Structures and Stability of Molecules in Metallic Junctions
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, we focus on the structural identification of the interface using surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) and inelastic electron tunnelling scattering (IETS). Two different molecular junctions, namely gold/ trans-1,2-bis (4-pyridyl) ethylene/gold junction and gold/4,4'-bipyridine/gold junctions in various conditions were studied and the corresponding configurations were determined. 2. Applications in Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to address specific applications of Raman spectroscopy and specifically surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy, SERS. It includes an introduction to the techniques and several applications. The focus has been on how to achieve high precision SERS measurements, both qualitatively and quantitatively. LÄS MER
3. Multivariate Measurements and Chemical Imaging of Organic Compounds
Sammanfattning : Chemical imaging is an emerging analytical technique, based on the interplay between, most often, spectroscopic measurements and advanced evaluation methodology. With this we can study the distribution of chemical compounds in different compartments, such as individual cells and pharmaceutical tablets. LÄS MER
4. Application of Raman and Fluorescence Spectroscopy to Single Chromatographic Beads
Sammanfattning : Chromatography is a powerful technique, essential in chemical analyses and preparative separation in industry and research. Many different kinds of chromatographic material are needed, due to the large variety of applications. Detailed methods of characterisation are needed to design new chromatographic materials and understand their properties. LÄS MER
5. Geometrical and Electronic Structures at Molecule-Metal Interfaces from Theoretical Modeling
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, we focus on theoretical investigations on metal interfaces where many heterogeneous chemical reactions take place. Surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectroscopy and the modern electrochemical methods are important in-situ techniques that have been widely employed for a variety of applications. LÄS MER
