1. Estimation of Thrust and Health Parameters for Jet Engines
Sammanfattning : An advanced turbofan engine control system would benefit from an accurate thrust and engine performance estimate. Unfortunately, there is to date no reliable in-flight thrust measurement sensors available. LÄS MER
2. Observers and controllers for Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy systems
Sammanfattning : This thesis studies analysis and design issues for observers anc controllers for Takagi-Sugeno (TS) fuzzy systems. Many physical systems are nonlinear in nature and using the well known linear techniques for such systems may result in bad performance, and even instability. LÄS MER
3. Model Error Compensation in ODE and DAE Estimators : with Automotive Engine Applications
Sammanfattning : Control and diagnosis of complex systems demand accurate information of the system state to enable efficient control and to detect system malfunction. Physical sensors are expensive and some quantities are hard or even impossible to measure with physical sensors. This has made model-based estimation an attractive alternative. LÄS MER
4. Designing for Peer Learning : Mathematics, Games and Peer Groups in Leisure-time Centers
Sammanfattning : Constrained by national tests and the mathematics curriculum, teachers have problems finding time for exploratory and hands-on mathematical activities, especially so in classes with a reduced pace of progression, for example because of a large proportion of second-language learners. Could the leisure-time center, where time is not earmarked, provide such opportunities? The conclusion of this thesis is that this can be done, on the condition that designed activities build on the central premise of the leisure-time center: children have the right to choose which activities to engage with. 5. Leg length discrepancy and femoral offset after total hip arthroplasty : clinical and radiological studies
Sammanfattning : Every year, about 1 million patients worldwide and 16000 patients in Sweden undergo total hip arthroplasty (THA). This surgical intervention is considered a successful, safe and cost-effective procedure to regain pain-free mobility and restore hip joint function in patients suffering from severe hip joint disease or trauma.
