  1. 1. On the role of the retinoblastoma tumor suppressor gene in hematopoietic differentiation

    Författare :Gösta Bergh; Helsingborg Kliniska Vetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; antisense; leukemia; cell cycle; differentiation; hematopoiesis; p16; p53; tumor suppressor genes; RB; oligonucleotides; Haematology; extracellular fluids; Hematologi; extracellulära vätskor;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this study was to investigate the role of some tumor suppressor gene products (with emphasis on the retinoblastoma suppressor gene product) in the regulation of differentiation and proliferation in leukemic and normal hematopoietic cells. For this purpose, the expression of the tumor suppressor genes RB, p53 and p16 were artificially altered. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Molecular characterization of type I endometrial carcinomas

    Författare :Kristina Levan; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :endometrial cancer; gene expression; Rb1; E2F-1;

    Sammanfattning : Endometrial carcinoma is the most common malignancy in the female reproductive tract. In Sweden over 1300 women are diagnosed every year, and although the prognosis is favourable in the majority of cases, about 160 patients die of the disease every year. LÄS MER

  3. 3. The epidemiology, biology and genetics of human astrocytic tumours

    Författare :Magnus Bäcklund; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Cancer; cell cycle; apoptosis; astrocytic glioma; glioblastoma; Rb 1 pathway; p53 pathway; EGFR; PTEN; prognosis; parathyroid adenoma; epidemiology;

    Sammanfattning : In Sweden > 1000 primary central nervous system (CNS) tumours are diagnosed each year. The majority are malignant and in adults astrocytic gliomas dominate. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Cell cycle deregulation in breast cancer subgroups and effects on proliferation, migration and tamoxifen resistance

    Författare :Sophie Lehn; Malmö Molekylär patologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Breast cancer; subgroups; proliferation; migration; stem cells; tamoxifen; estrogen receptor;

    Sammanfattning : Breast cancer is a heterogenous disease which can be divided in subgroups of distinct biology with disparate prognosis and response to treatment. The overall aim of this thesis was to delineate subgroup specific behaviour in breast cancer cells with focus on proliferation, migration and stem-like cell activity. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Role of the CDKN2A and related cell cycle regulatory genes in melanoma and other human cancers

    Författare :Johanna Smeds; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :CDKN2A; ARF; p53; cell cycle regulation; mutation; melanoma; esophageal squamous cell carcinoma;

    Sammanfattning : The main objective of this thesis has been to investigate the involvement of the CDKN2A (p16INK4a and p14ARF) and related cell cycle regulatory genes in melanoma and other types of human cancer. The CDKN2A gene represents a unique locus in the entire human genome. LÄS MER
