1. Dewatering aspects at the forming section of the paper machine : Rewetting and forming fabric structure
Sammanfattning : The underlying motives of the research undertaken here are twofold: to obtain a deeper understanding of the dewatering mechanisms at the forming section of a papermaking machine and to develop numerical models that describe the flow through forming fabrics. More comprehensive knowledge of dewatering in the forming section allows suggestions to be made for improvements that reduce the amount of energy used in the process without affecting the quality of the end product. 2. Semi-Solid Casting of Aluminium and Magnesium Alloys: Slurry Production and Rheocasting using the Rapid Slurry Forming Technology
Sammanfattning : Semi-solid casting was developed in the early 1970’s and involves the use of a partially solidified metal slurry. This method of casting has become a popular alternative for production of automobile components. LÄS MER
3. Mechanical properties and microstructure of laser sintered and starch consolidated iron-based powders
Sammanfattning : In powder metallurgy research field, Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS) and Metal Powder Starch Consolidation (MPSC) are relatively new rapid forming techniques to fabricate complex and near net-shaped components. The working principles of DMLS are to melt and fuse metal powder layer by layer in computer controlled systems to pile up components like three dimensional printing. LÄS MER
4. Optimization of sheet metal forming processes
Sammanfattning : The potential of using simulation and optimization techniques in the design of sheet metal forming processes has been investigated. Optimization has been used in a variety of sheet metal forming applications. LÄS MER
5. New Concepts in Administration of Drugs in Tablet Form : Formulation and Evaluation of a Sublingual Tablet for Rapid Absorption, and Presentation of an Individualised Dose Administration System
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents two new concepts in oral drug administration and the results of evaluation of some relevant formulation factors.Investigation into improving the homogeneity of mixtures for tableting indicated that it may be possible to obtain interactive dry mixtures of micronised drugs containing drug proportions as low as 0.015% w/w.
