  1. 1. Contouring & planning variability in stereotactic radiosurgery : How to assess and address the weakest link in stereotactic radiosurgery?

    Författare :Helena Sandström; Iuliana Toma-Dasu; David Schlesinger; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; stereotactic radiosurgery; contouring variability; robust treatment planning; Medical Radiation Physics; medicinsk strålningsfysik;

    Sammanfattning : The use of stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) employing one or a few fractions of high doses of radiation has continuously increased due to the technical development in dose delivery and morphological and functional imaging. As the target volume in SRS is usually defined without margins, the treatment success critically depends on accurate definition and contouring of the target volume and organs at risk (OARs) which are commonly situated in the proximity of the target making their precise delineation particularly important in order to limit possible normal tissue complications. 2. 2. Improving the therapeutic ratio of stereotactic radiosurgery and radiotherapy

    Författare :Bahram Andisheh; Bengt Lind; John Hopewell; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; optimization; stereotactic radiosurgery; stereotactic radiotherapy; radiobiology; modeling; Medical Radiation Physics; medicinsk strålningsfysik;

    Sammanfattning : New methods of high dose delivery, such as intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), stereotactic radiation therapy (SRT) or stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), hadron therapy, tomotherapy, etc., all make use of a few large fractions. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Treatment selection in metastatic renal cell carcinoma : Towards an individualised approach

    Författare :Maria Stenman; Magnus Lindskog; Ulrika Harmenberg; Tim Eisen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; rcc; renal cell carcinoma; kidney cancer; stereotactic radiotherapy; srt; stereotactic body radiotherapy; sbrt; gamma knife radiosurgery; gkrs; stereotactic radiosurgery; srs; radiotherapy; overall survival; prognostic factor; papillary; Oncology; Onkologi;

    Sammanfattning : Renal cell carcinoma (RCC), a common malignancy worldwide, affects 1200 new patients yearly in Sweden. Metastatic RCC (mRCC) develops in one in three and is commonly incurable. Clear cell histology dominates followed by papillary histology. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Contouring variability in radiosurgery - dosimetric and radiobiological implications

    Författare :Helena Sandström; Iuliana Toma-Dasu; Mike Partridge; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Medical Radiation Physics; medicinsk strålningsfysik;

    Sammanfattning : The use of Stereotactic Radiation Therapy (SRT) employing one large fraction of radiation, as in stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), or few fractions of high doses, has continuously increased due to the technical development and the progress in dose delivery complemented by the positive clinical experience. The success of stereotactic radiation therapy depends on many clinical, dosimetric and radiobiological factors. LÄS MER

  5. 5. A Novel Approach for Radiotherapy and Radiosurgery Treatment Planning Accounting for High-Grade Glioma Invasiveness into Normal Tissue

    Författare :Wille Häger; Iuliana Toma-Daşu; Marta Lazzeroni; Jesper Kallehauge; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Tumor modeling; medical physics; model; simulation; glioblastoma; gbm; medicinsk strålningsfysik; Medical Radiation Physics;

    Sammanfattning : High-grade gliomas (HGGs) are a type of malignant brain cancer, which include glioblastomas (GBMs). In adults, GBM is the most common malignant primary brain cancer. Attempts to treat patients with GBMs have been conducted for over a century, but the prognosis has only marginally improved. LÄS MER
