  1. 1. Improving prognostication and treatment choices for patients with AML

    Författare :Albin Österroos; Sören Lehmann; Marc H G P Raaijmakers; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Acute myeloid leukaemia; Acute promyelocytic leukaemia; Prognostication; Personalised medicine; Risk stratification; Real-world data; Next-generation sequencing; Azacitidine; Venetoclax; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Sammanfattning : The treatment landscape of the aggressive haematological malignancy acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) has expanded but the prognosis is still unsatisfactory poor. Here, we aimed at improving prognostication and treatment choices in AML by addressing current clinical obstacles to successful AML treatment. LÄS MER

  2. 2. ICU prognostication: Time to re-evaluate? Register-based studies on improving prognostication for patients admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU)

    Författare :Peder Andersson; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Intensive Care; Critical Care; Mortality; Cerebral Performance Category; Cardiac arrest; Out-of-hospital cardiac arrest; Sepsis; Lactate; Troponin; Neuron-specific enolase; Neurofilament light; Age; Elderly; Prognostication; Prediction; Scoring system; Neural net; Artificial neural network; Deep learning; Artificial intelligence;

    Sammanfattning : Background: ICU prognostication is difficult because of patients’ prior comorbidities and their varied reasons for admission. The model used for ICU prognostication in Sweden is the Simplified Acute Physiology Score 3 (SAPS 3), which uses information gathered within one hour of ICU admission to predict 30-day mortality. 3. 3. Assessment of Left Ventricular Dysfunction and Remodelling by Determination of Atrioventricular Plane Displacement and Simplified Echocardiography

    Författare :Ronnie Willenheimer; Kardiologiska klinikens forskargrupp; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cardiovascular system; simplified echocardiography; atrioventricular plane displacement; diagnosis; screening; heart failure; prognostication; latent heart failure; left ventricular dysfunction; Kardiovaskulära systemet;

    Sammanfattning : Heart failure is a common disease characterised by poor prognosis and frequent hospitalisations, constituting a major economic burden to society. Mortality and morbidity can be reduced by optimal treatment, requiring objective evaluation of cardiac function and anatomy. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Population-based studies in Myelodysplastic syndromes : Prognostic scores, socioeconomic status, and therapy-related disease

    Författare :Daniel Moreno Berggren; Elisabeth Ejerblad; Sören Lehmann; Martin Jädersten; David Bowen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Myelodysplastic syndromes; Chronic myelomonocytic leukaemia; Prognostication; Comorbidity; Therapy-related disease; Real-world data; Population-based studies; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to expand the epidemiological knowledge of the haematological malignancy MDS and the related condition chronic myelomonocytic leukaemia (CMML). Using nationwide registers, the papers in this thesis address aspects of prognostication, comorbidity, socioeconomic status, and therapy-related disease, using a population-based approach. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Assessment of neurological prognosis after cardiac arrest – clinical and neurophysiological aspects

    Författare :Linus Lilja; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cardiac arrest; neurological prognosis; prognostication; electroencephalography; somatosensory evoked potentials;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Post-resuscitation care after cardiac arrest in adults includes targeted temperature management (TTM) to mitigate secondary brain injury. The recommended target temperature is between 32°C and 36°C after a large, international, randomized trial showed comparable outcomes (33°C vs. 36°C). LÄS MER
