  1. 1. Med risk för diabetes- studier av symtom, självskattad hälsa och erfarenhet av att leva med prediabetes

    Författare :Susanne Andersson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Primärvård; Typ 2 diabetes; Prediabetes; Nedsatt glukostolerans; Symtom; Självskattad hälsa; Levd erfarenhet;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Individuals with impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) have a high risk of developing both type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and cardiovascular disease. T2DM is a common chronic disease in a global perspective, and it is estimated to continue to grow, which is a serious health problem. LÄS MER

  2. 2. How can older adults combat diabetes to achieve a longer and healthier life?

    Författare :Ying Shang; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Prediabetes;

    Sammanfattning : Type 2 diabetes (hereafter, diabetes) and prediabetes are very common in older adults and constitute a great health concern for this population. The objective of this project is to investigate the impact of prediabetes and diabetes on health and survival among older adults, and to identify modifiable factors that may attenuate the risk of diabetes on disability and mortality to prolong survival with independence. 3. 3. The impact of diabetes on cognitive aging and dementia

    Författare :Anna Marseglia; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :prediabetes;

    Sammanfattning : The impact of prediabetes and diabetes on different stages of cognitive function during aging remains unclear. This thesis aimed to investigate the impact of prediabetes and of diabetes on cognitive aging—from cognitive deficits, through cognitive decline, to dementia—, explore underlying cerebral mechanisms and identify factors that may protect older adults with diabetes from dementia.     Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmacometric; type 2 diabetes mellitus; impaired glucose tolerance; prediabetes; anti-diabetes drug development; insulin; glucose; natural diabetes disease progression; lifestyle intervention; short-term provocation; long-term effect; glucose homeostasis; glucose and insulin regulation; weight; dropout; Pharmaceutical Science; Farmaceutisk vetenskap; Endokrinologi och Diabetologi; Endocrinology and Diabetology;

    Sammanfattning : Pharmacometric modelling is widely used in many aspects related to type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), for instance in the anti-diabetes drug development, and in quantifying the disease progression of T2DM.The aim of this thesis were to improve the design of early phase anti-diabetes drug development studies with the focus on the power to identify mechanism of drug action (MoA), and to characterize and quantify the progression from prediabetes to overt diabetes, both the natural progression and the progression with diet and exercise interventions, using pharmacometrics modelling.
