11. Ethanol from lignocellulose : Management of by-products of hydrolysis
Sammanfattning : Fuel ethanol can be produced from lignocellulosic materials, such as residues from agriculture and forestry. The polysaccharides of lignocellulose are converted to sugars by hydrolysis and the sugars can then be fermented to ethanol using microorganisms. However, during hydrolysis a wide range of by-products are also generated. LÄS MER
12. Recovery of Rare Earth Elements from an Apatite Concentrate
Sammanfattning : Rare earth elements (REE) are a group of 17 elements including lanthanides, yttrium and scandium; which are found in a variety of classes of minerals worldwide. The criticality of the application, lack of high grade and economically feasible REE resources and a monopolistic supply situation has raised significant attention in recovery of these metals from low grade ores and waste materials. 13. Interactions of Biopolymers and Metalcomplexes at Biological Interfaces
Sammanfattning : The present work concerns interaction between biopolymers at interfaces. Examples from real systems such as saliva and bacterial surfaces as well as model systems have been studied. LÄS MER
14. Associative Polymer-Polymer and Polymer-Surfactant Systems: Phase Behaviour and the Influence of Chemical Reactions
Sammanfattning : Aqueous mixtures of two non-ionic polymers, poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) and the amphiphilic triblock copolymer, (EO)27(PO)67(EO)27, known by its trade name Pluronic® P104, showed an associative phase separation (miscibility gap), which decreased with the decrease of PAA length. It was found that PAA is a much less selective “solvent” to P104 molecules than water. LÄS MER
15. Understanding the Role of Molybdenum on the Precipitation in PH Stainless Steels
Sammanfattning : The main part of the present work concerns studies of the influence of molybdenum on the microstructure of martensitic PH stainless steels, during ageing at 475°C. A short investigation of the silicon impact has also been conducted. LÄS MER
