1. Plant pathogen defense: Signalling, resistance and cell death
Sammanfattning : Pathogenic microorganisms are present everywhere in nature and infect both animals and plants. Phytopathogenic microorganisms cause diseases on plants, and are responsible for crop loss amounting in the order billions of dollars annually. LÄS MER
2. Vision Based Perception for Mechatronic Weed Control
Sammanfattning : The use of computer-based signal processing and sensor technology to guide and control different types of agricultural field implements increases the performance of traditional implements and even makes it possible to create new ones. This thesis increases the knowledge on vision-based perception for mechatronic weed control. LÄS MER
3. Studies towards late blight control in potato
Sammanfattning : Abstract The oomycete Phytophthora infestans, which causes the devastating late blight disease of potato, is notorious for developing resistance to conventional control strategies (fungicide application and resistance breeding by introgression of R gene). To increase our tool box of disease management strategies available to combat P. LÄS MER
4. Host organelles and transporters in underground plant-pathogen interactions
Sammanfattning : This thesis covers studies of three different soilborne plant pathogens, the two fungi, Rhizoctonia solani and Verticillium longisporum, and the protist Plasmodiophora brassicae, as well as their host responses. Based on genome sequence analysis of the pathogens and their plant hosts, different effectors and plant defence factors were predicted. LÄS MER
5. Studies of genes involved in regulating flowering time in Arabidopsis
Sammanfattning : Transition from a vegetative growth phase to flowering in plants occurs in response to both environmental conditions and endogenous signals. Identification of genes that are involved in regulating the time of flowering is of great importance in agri- and horticulture. LÄS MER
