  1. 1. Partial Response and Faster-than-Nyquist Signaling

    Författare :Fredrik Rusek; Institutionen för elektro- och informationsteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Telecommunication engineering; Signalbehandling; Signal processing; Partial Response Signaling; Faster-than-Nyquist Signaling; Digital Communications; Coding Theory; Telekommunikationsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Bandwidth efficiency is a key objective in the design of a digital communication system. Traditionally it is accomplished by increasing the constellation size of the signaling system. In this thesis alternative techniques are studied. Because the communication channel is continuous, so must the actual time signals be. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Molecular studies of pancreatic cancer: Characterization of the transforming growth factor beta signaling pathway

    Författare :Tord Jonson; Avdelningen för klinisk genetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; SMAD4; PCR; FISH; cytogenetics; chromosome; pancreatic cancer; TGFB signaling; cytogenetik; Genetik; Genetics;

    Sammanfattning : In the present thesis, genetic abnormalities in pancreatic cancer were studied, with special emphasis on alterations of components involved in the transforming growth factor beta (TGFB) signaling pathway. In the first study, fluorescence in situ hybridization and cytogenetic analyses revealed aberrations of chromosome 18 in all 13 pancreatic carcinoma cell lines studied, in particular frequent breaks close to the centromere of chromosome arm 18q. 3. 3. Mechanisms of therapy resistance in acute lymphoblastic leukemia

    Författare :Kinjal Shah; Avdelningen för translationell cancerforskning; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ALL; B-ALL; T-ALL; dexamethasone; FLT3; Signaling pathways; BCL2; resistance; PLK1; synergy;

    Sammanfattning : Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is a highly aggressive pediatric cancer that can affect both B cells and T cells. The advent of new therapies has increased the cure rates for both B-ALL and T-ALL patients. However, some patients still experience relapse with a variable response to the treatment and display poor survival. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Cell signaling and regulation of smooth muscle contraction from a physiological and a pathophysiological perspective

    Författare :Lena Boberg; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to examine the cell signaling and regulation of smooth muscle in different smooth muscle tissues and under pathophysiological conditions. The thesis is based on 4 papers and the experimental work is based on in vitro studies in mouse. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Molecular basis of estrogen receptor antagonism

    Författare :Nina Heldring; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Estrogen Receptor; antagonism; receptor signaling; phytoestrogen and conformational changes;

    Sammanfattning : Estrogen Receptors (ERs), ERα and ERβ, are responsible for mediating the physiological effects of the steroid hormone 17b-estradiol and structurally related compounds. ER signaling is a complex process where the combined effects of accessory proteins, known as coregulators, promoter characteristics and influence from other signaling systems, determine the cell-specific transcriptional response in a given situation.
