Sammanfattning : Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) biomarkers of neurodegenerative diseases have a wide scope of applications in diagnostics, prognosis assessment, disease staging, treatment evaluation and more. In this PhD project we aimed to expand the understanding of the properties of known CSF biomarkers of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and other neurodegenerative diseases, including the most prevalent dementia disorders. Sammanfattning : Risk factors for dementia, Parkinson’s disease, and stroke have been widely studied but there are still research gaps concerning the role of diet for the development of these diseases. The overall aim of this thesis was to investigate whether various aspects of diet are associated with common disorders and diseases in the brain. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Cognitive and motor dysfunction in the early phase of Parkinson's disease

Sammanfattning : Background: Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a chronic and progressive neurodegenerative disease. The diagnosis is based on a combination of the motor signs: tremor, bradykinesia, rigidity and postural abnormalities. Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) is common early in the disease and a large proportion of patients with PD develop dementia (PDD). LÄS MER
