    Sammanfattning : The mouse pancreas is a mixed exocrine and endocrine glandconsisting of three lobular compartments: the splenic, duodenal and gastric lobes. During embryogenesis, the pancreas forms from two progenitor populations located on the dorsal and ventral side of the primitive gut tube. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Pancreas Transplantation: Development of Successful Preclinical Models

    Författare :Wayne John Hawthorne; Kirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; acute rejection; simultaneous pancreas and kidney transplant; portal venous drainage; systemic venous drainage; pancreaticoduodenal transplant; segmental pancreas transplant; duct-occlusion; autograft; Pancreas transplantation; allograft; hyperacute rejection; glucose metabolism.; Surgery; orthopaedics; traumatology; Kirurgi; ortopedi; traumatologi;

    Sammanfattning : Pancreas transplantation is today a technically successful procedure and provides an alternative to insulin injections for the treatment of Type I diabetes mellitus. This thesis was undertaken while pancreas transplantation was developing and while several fundamental questions were being asked about both endocrine and exocrine drainage of the transplanted pancreas as well as how best to diagnose and prevent rejection. 3. 3. Immunopathology of the Pancreas in Type 1 Diabetes

    Författare :Anna Wiberg; Olle Korsgren; Oskar Skog; Åke Lernmark; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Type 1 diabetes; glucagon; T cells; autoantibodies; glucose transporters; islets of Langerhans; pancreas; Klinisk immunologi; Clinical Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : Type 1 diabetes (T1D) results from a loss of functional insulin-producing pancreatic beta cells. The etiology of T1D is poorly understood, but the detection of infiltrating inflammatory cells in the pancreas and circulating autoantibodies has led to the common notion that an autoimmune process plays a central role in the pathogenesis of the disease. 4. 4. Rho-GTPases in Morphogenesis and Differentiation of the Developing Pancreas

    Författare :Thomas Greiner; Stamcellscentrum (SCC); []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; insulin; diabetes; beta cell; cell adhesion; migration; delamination; morphogenesis; tubulogenesis; pancreas; Cdc42; Rho-GTPase; Rac1;

    Sammanfattning : Branched tubular networks constitute the basic structure of many organs to increase surface area and to transport fluids and gases. Glandular organs such as the pancreas arise from multilayered epithelium, which undergoes de novo lumen formation and extensive remodeling and branching. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Studies of the Pancreas: Implications for Type 1 Diabetes Aetiology

    Författare :Peter Seiron; Oskar Skog; Michele Solimena; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pancreas; Type 1 Diabetes; Insulitis; Beta cells; Immunology; Tissue resident memory T cells; Islets of Langerhans; Endocrinology and Diabetology; Endokrinologi och Diabetologi; Immunologi; Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is a disease of severe insulin deficiency through loss of β cells in the endocrine pancreas. The T1D dogma maintains that a precipitating event unleashes autoimmunity in at-risk individuals, often measured through autoantibodies against β cell antigens. LÄS MER
