  1. 1. Systemic lupus erythematosus and rheumatoid arthritis : analyses of candidate genes involved in immune functions, for susceptibility and severity

    Författare :Martin Johansson; Solbritt Rantapää Dahlqvist; Ingrid Lundberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; SLE; RA; oestrogen; renal disorder; ESR1; PDCD1; PTPN22; association; severity; Rheumatology; Reumatologi; Medicine; medicin;

    Sammanfattning : Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune rheumatic disease with systemic manifestations characterized by auto-antibodies directed against different parts of the cell nucleus including DNA, histones and ribosomes. The systemic inflammation can cause damage to multiple organs, e.g., kidneys, skin, heart, lungs and the nervous system. LÄS MER

  2. 2. The genetic background of gestational diabetes mellitus

    Författare :Anastasia Papadopoulou; Celiaki och diabetes; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Gestational diabetes mellitus; HLA; TCF7L2; PTPN22; Post partum diabetes; Type 1 Diabetes; Type 2 Diabetes; Islet Cell Autoantibodies;

    Sammanfattning : The aims of this work is to better determine the genetic background of gestational diabetes (GDM) and to examine how specific genes affect the development of diabetes post partum. In the DiPiS (Diabetes Prediction in Skåne) study we typed for HLA-DQB1 alleled, the transcription factor 7-like 2(TCF7L2) rs7903146, rs12255372 and rs7901695 SNPs, the 1858 C>T SNP of the protein tyrosine phosphatase non-receptor 22 (PTPN22) gene and we tested for the presence of islet cell autoantibodies against glutamic acid decarboxylase 65 (GAD65), insulinoma-associated antigen 2 (IA-2) and insulin in women who had been diagnosed with GDM at least once during 2000-2004. 3. 3. Pathogenetic factors of importance for the development and progression of rheumatoid arthritis

    Författare :Heidi Kokkonen; Solbritt Rantapää-Dahlqvist; Dirkjan van Schaardenburg; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; rheumatoid arthritis; cytokines; autoantibodies; isotypes; PTPN22; HLA-SE; reumatologi; rheumatology;

    Sammanfattning : Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune disease characterized by joint inflammation eventually leading to the destruction of cartilage and bone. The aetiopathogenesis is not completely understood, but previous studies have shown that the disease is multifactorial with genetic, environmental and hormonal factors involved. Immune cells, e. 4. 4. Role of genes and environment for the development of rheumatoid arthritis : results from the Swedish EIRA study

    Författare :Henrik Källberg; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Rheumatoid arthritis; HLA-DRB1; PTPN22; smoking; alcohol; case control; interaction;

    Sammanfattning : Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a complex disease with autoimmune features primarily causing destruction in the joints of the body. Knowledge regarding risk indicators and causes are increasing but so far only a few genetic and very few environmental risk factors have been consistently identified. LÄS MER
