  1. 1. Adenoviral small non-coding RNAs : A Structural and Functional Charaterization

    Författare :Wael Kamel; Göran Akusjärvi; Ben Berkhout; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :non-coding RNA miRNA mivaRNA canonical Dicer Ago2 TSS m7G Cap Adenovirus replication E2B;

    Sammanfattning : Since their discovery in 1953, adenoviruses have significantly contributed to the understanding of virus-host cell interactions, including mechanistic details of cellular processes such as cell cycle control and alternative RNA splicing. Among the first characterized adenoviral genes were the virus-associated RNAs (VA RNAI/II), which are produced in massive amount during a lytic infection. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Characterization of non-coding mRNA in Epstein-Barr virus

    Författare :Åsa Isaksson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Epstein-Barr virus; EBNA1; IRES; PTLD; alternative splice; nucleotide substitution; protein interactions;

    Sammanfattning : Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is a human gammaherpesvirus that infects lymphoid and epithelial cells. The virus is the causative agent of infectious mononucleosis, a self-limiting lymphoproliferative disease, and it is additionally associated with various malignancies including Burkitt?s lymphoma, Hodgkin?s disease and lymphoproliferative syndromes in immunocompromised individuals. 3. 3. Ticks and Tick-borne Encephalitis Virus : From Nature to Infection

    Författare :Naveed Asghar; Magnus Johansson; Patrik Dinnétz; Travis Taylor; Södertörns högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Co-occurrence; Environmental factors; Flavivirus; Ixodes ricinus; Natural foci; Non-coding region; Poly A tract; Quasispecies; Questing ticks; Scandinavia; Tick-borne encephalitis virus; Vegetation.; Environmental Studies; Miljövetenskapliga studier;

    Sammanfattning : Vector-borne diseases are an increasing global threat to humans due to climate changes, elevating the risk of infections transmitted by mosquitos, ticks, and other arthropod vectors. Ixodes ricinus, a common tick in Europe, transmits dangerous tick-borne pathogens to humans. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Perks and considerations when targeting functional non-coding regions with CRISPR/Cas9

    Författare :Keyi Geng; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Since the CRISPR system was discovered as an adaptive immune response in prokaryotic cells, the past decade has witnessed the engineering and deployment of CRISPR/Cas9 as one of the most efficient and powerful molecular tools. By leveraging the nuclease activity of CRISPR/Cas9, researchers are able to probe the biological functions of genetic elements and dissect molecular interactions by disrupting, activating or inactivating genes. Författare :Cecilia Unoson; E. Gerhart. H Wagner; Renée Schroeder; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Small RNA; non-coding RNA; antisense; translational control; ribosome standby; toxin-antitoxin; IstR; TisB; tisAB; MicF; Lrp; Microbiology; Mikrobiologi; Cell and molecular biology; Cell- och molekylärbiologi; Biologi med inriktning mot mikrobiologi; Biology with specialization in Microbiology;

    Sammanfattning : Non-coding RNAs are highly abundant regulators of gene expression in all kingdoms of life that often play important roles in vital cellular functions. In bacteria, small regulatory RNAs (sRNAs) usually act post-transcriptionally by regulating mRNAs through base pairing within ribosome binding sites (RBS), thereby inhibiting translation initiation.
