1. Convexity, Currents, and Lelong numbers
Sammanfattning : This thesis treats different aspects of convexity, both real and complex. On the real side, we study convexity in relation with certain currents. On the complex side, we study the singularities of plurisubharmonic functions. LÄS MER
2. Från naturliga tal till hela tal (från N till Z) : Vad kan göra skillnad för elevers möjligheter att bli bekanta med de negativa talen?
Sammanfattning : The aim of the thesis is to gain knowledge concerning what pupils aged 8 and 9 need to learn to become familiar with negative numbers. The framework used in this research, variation theory, impliesthat students' problems in learning what was intended may have to do with the fact that some critical aspects of the studied object have not yet been discerned by the student. 3. Geometry of numbers, class group statistics and free path lengths
Sammanfattning : This thesis contains four papers, where the first two are in the area of geometry of numbers, the third is about class group statistics and the fourth is about free path lengths. A general theme throughout the thesis is lattice points and convex bodies. LÄS MER
4. Mätning och motstånd : Sifferstyrning i socialtjänstens vardag
Sammanfattning : In the name of transparency and accountability, numbers and statistics have gained importance as indicators of quality, effectiveness and efficiency of welfare services such as social work. It has been argued that the requirements to formalise how and on what grounds decisions are made have undermined the professional autonomy and discretion of social workers. LÄS MER
5. Towards Plane Hurwitz Numbers
Sammanfattning : The main objects of this thesis are branched coverings obtained as projection from a point in P^2. Our general goal is to understand how a given meromorphic function f: X -> P^1 can be induced from a composition X --> C -> P^1, where C is a plane curve in P^2 which is birationally equivalent to the smooth curve X.
