11. Prediction of wood species and pulp brightness from roundwood measurements
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents a number of studies, where a multivariate approach was taken to construct models that predict wood species and thermo mechanical pulp brightness from roundwood of Norway spruce and Scots pine. The first and second studies produced multivariate prediction models for wood species from the bark of spruce and pine. LÄS MER
12. Applications of common principal components in multivariate and high-dimensional analysis
Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of four papers, all exploring some aspect of common principal component analysis (CPCA), the generalization of PCA to multiple groups. The basic assumption of the CPC model is that the space spanned by the eigenvectors is identical across several groups, whereas eigenvalues associated with the eigenvectors can vary. LÄS MER
13. Reducing uncertainties in climate change impact studies through uni- and multivariate methods : A Nordic perspective
Sammanfattning : Climate change poses undeniable impacts on hydroclimatic processes due to simultaneous effects of rising temperature and changing precipitation patterns. To quantify these impacts, simulations of climate variables are typically retrieved from climate models, which are then downscaled and bias-adjusted for a particular study site. LÄS MER
14. Contributions to High–Dimensional Analysis under Kolmogorov Condition
Sammanfattning : This thesis is about high–dimensional problems considered under the so{called Kolmogorov condition. Hence, we consider research questions related to random matrices with p rows (corresponding to the parameters) and n columns (corresponding to the sample size), where p > n, assuming that the ratio converges when the number of parameters and the sample size increase. 15. Developing tools for non-target analysis and digital archiving of organic urban water pollutants
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes efforts to develop robust methods for the creation and use of digital archives of environmental samples, and proposes guidelines based on the results. Digital archives are repositories that store environmental samples digitally. LÄS MER
