1. Geometric Discretization in Shape analysis
Sammanfattning : Discretizations in shape analysis is the main theme of this licentiate thesis, which comprises two papers. The first paper considers the problem of finding a parameterized time-dependent vector field that warps an initial set of points to a target set of points. LÄS MER
2. Lip-motion and speech biometrics in person recognition
Sammanfattning : Biometric identification techniques are frequently used to improve security, e.g. in financial transactions, computer networks and secure critical locations. The purpose of biometric authentication systems is to verify an individual by her biological characteristics including those generating characterisitic behaviour. LÄS MER
3. A Symbolic Approach to Human Motion Analysis Using Inertial Sensors : Framework and Gait Analysis Study
Sammanfattning : Motion analysis deals with determining what and how activities are being performed by a subject, through the use of sensors. The process of answering the what question is commonly known as classification, and answering the how question is here referred to as characterization. LÄS MER
4. Annular Motion : Assessment of Cardiac Function using Echocardiography and Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Sammanfattning : This thesis concentrates on the assessment of cardiac function, both systolic and diastolic using variables originating from the longitudinal motion of the heart using both established and novel non-invasive imaging techniques. We developed a new magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technique that creates an M-mode MRI image, analogous to the one used in echocardiography and enables quantitative assessment of cardiac motion. 5. Multidimensional MRI of Cardiac Motion : Acquisition, Reconstruction and Visualization
Sammanfattning : Methods for measuring deformation and motion of the human heart in-vivo are crucial in the assessment of cardiac function. Applications ranging from basic physiological research, through early detection of disease to follow-up studies, all benefit from improved methods of measuring the dynamics of the heart. LÄS MER
