  1. 1. Hydrophobically Modified Polymers. Rheology and Molecular Associations

    Författare :Leif Karlson; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; polymer self diffusion; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi; rheology; hydrophobically modified polyethylene glycol; hydrophobically modified ethyl hydroxyethyl cellulose; cyclodextrin; hydrophobically modified polymer; associative thickener;

    Sammanfattning : Structure- property relationships and thickening mechanism in aqueous solution of two hydrophobically modified polymers (HM-P) with different architecture have been investigated. The two polymers, hydrophobically modified ethyl hydroxyethyl cellulose (HM-EHEC) and hydrophobically modified polyethylene glycol (HM-PEG), are commonly used as associative thickeners in the paint industry. 2. 2. Solution properties of a hydrophobically modified polymer

    Författare :Krister Thuresson; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; sodium dodecylsulfate; surfactants; fluorescence; light scattering; NMR; rheology; cloud point; phase behaviour; polyelectrolytes; ethyl hydroxyethyl cellulose; hydrophobically modified; water soluble polymers; aggregation number; association; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : The influence of hydrophobic modification on solution properties of water-soluble polymers in the semi-dilute regime have been studied. The nonionic ethyl(hydroxyethyl)cellulose (EHEC) and its hydrophobically modified analogue (HM-EHEC) are used as model substances. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Thermoelectric properties of conducting polymers

    Författare :Olga Bubnova; Xavier Crispin; Magnus Berggren; Alan Kaiser; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Thermoelectric generation; Seebeck coefficient; conducting polymers; thermoelectric efficiency.;

    Sammanfattning : According to different sources, from forty to sixty percent of the overall energy generated in the world today is squandered in waste heat. The existing energy conversion technologies are either close to their efficiency limits or too costly to justify their implementation. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Investigation of Modified Cellulose and Starch via Hydrolysis and Mass Spectrometry

    Författare :Arieh Cohen; Avdelningen för arbets- och miljömedicin; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ESI-MS; Polysaccharides; Hydrolysis; Cellulases; Starch Hydrolases; Enzymatic Degradation; Enzymes; Substituent Distribution; Modified Cellulose; Mass Spectrometry; Modified Starch; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi; HPAEC-PAD;

    Sammanfattning : Starches and celluloses can be chemically modified in order to affect their physiochemical properties. Modification of these carbohydrate polymers entails derivatising their free hydroxyl groups with functional groups. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Association Phenomena in Aqueous Solutions of Surfactants and Hydrophobically Modified Polymers

    Författare :Susanne Nilsson; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; self-diffusion; rheology; cellulose ethers; associating polymers; polymer-surfactant interactions; polymer network; Fysikalisk kemi; Physical chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Interactions between ionic surfactants (sodium dodecyl sulfate and dodecyltrimethylammonium chloride) and nonionic polymers ((hydroxyethyl)cellulose, ethyl(hydroxyethyl)cellulose and their hydrophobically modified analogous) have been studied by means of rheology, pulsed field gradient nuclear magnetic resonance (PFG NMR), time-resolved fluorescence quenching (TRFQ), dynamic light scattering (DLS) and cryo-transmission electron microscopy (cryo-TEM). In all experiments surfactants have been added in various amounts to polymer solutions at fixed concentrations. LÄS MER
