1. On Fault Detection, Diagnosis and Monitoring for Induction Motors
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, multiple methods and different approaches have been established and evaluated successfully, in order to detect and diagnose the faults of induction motors (IMs). The aim of this thesis is to present novel fault detection and isolation methods for the case of induction machines that would have the merit to be implemented online and being characterized by specific novel capabilities, when compared with the existing techniques. 2. Machine Learning Methods Using Class-specific Subspace Kernel Representations for Large-Scale Applications
Sammanfattning : Kernel techniques became popular due to and along with the rising success of Support Vector Machines (SVM). During the last two decades, the kernel idea itself has been extracted from SVM and is now widely studied as an independent subject. LÄS MER
3. Characterisation of Nonlinear Structural Dynamic Systems in Conceptual Design
Sammanfattning : The engine and driveline systems of passenger cars generates and distributes the necessary driving power and are major contributors to vehicle emissions, noise and vibrations, etc. More environmental friendly technologies under development are expected to intensify and add new comfort related problems, since most of them affect vibration sources or system damping. 4. Multitemporal Spaceborne Polarimetric SAR Data for Urban Land Cover Mapping
Sammanfattning : Urban land cover mapping represents one of the most important remote sensing applications in the context of rapid global urbanization. In recent years, high resolution spaceborne Polarimetric Synthetic Aperture Radar (PolSAR) has been increasingly used for urban land cover/land-use mapping, since more information could be obtained in multiple polarizations and the collection of such data is less influenced by solar illumination and weather conditions. 5. Monitoring biodiversity in cultural landscapes: development of remote sensing- and GIS-based methods
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, I explore the relationships between structural and compositional landscape properties, and species diversity, using remotely sensed data on a variety of spatial scales. The thesis shows that increased landscape heterogeneity, measured using environmental and spectral variables that were used both separately and combined, is generally positively related to plant species richness.
