  1. 1. Seismic Exploration Solutions for Deep-Targeting Metallic Mineral Deposits : From high-fold 2D to sparse 3D, and deep-learning workflows

    Författare :Magdalena Markovic; Alireza Malehmir; Gilles Bellefleur; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Exploration; Seismic; Mineral Deposits; Diffraction; Deep learning;

    Sammanfattning : Mineral exploration has in recent years moved its focus to greater depths than ever before, particularly in brown fields. Exploring new deposits at depth, if economical, would not only expand the life of mine but also provide minimal environmental impacts. It allows the existing mining infrastructures to be used for a longer period. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Degradation Mechanisms of Heat Resistant Steel at Elevated Temperatures : In an Iron Ore Pelletizing Industry

    Författare :Erik A. A. Nilsson; Marta-Lena Antti; Ragnar Tegman; Jan-Erik Svensson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; stainless steel; Grate-Kiln; microstructure; corrosion; as-casted; thermal cycling; erosion; deposition; Engineering Materials; Materialteknik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the different degradation mechanisms of the stainless steel in a travelling grate in a Grate-Kiln iron ore pellet indurator. The travelling grate is a conveyor belt that transports green-body pellets to a rotary kiln while the pellets are being dried and pre-heated to a temperature of 900-1100 °C by recycled hot air. 3. 3. Geophysical 3D models of Paleoproterozoic Iron Oxide Apatite mineralization’s and Related Mineral Systems in Norrbotten, Sweden

    Författare :Oskar Rydman; Maxim Smirnov; Thorkild Maack Rasmussen; Tobias Bauer; Niklas Juhojuntti; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Geophysics; Magnetotellurics; 3D Inversion modelling; Classification; Potential fields; Mineral system; Petrophysics; mineral exploration; common earth modeling; iron oxide-apatite; Northern Norrbotten ore province; Tillämpad geofysik; Applied Geophysics;

    Sammanfattning : The Northern Norrbotten ore district hosts a multitude of Sweden’s mineral deposits including world class deposits such as the Malmberget and Kirunavaara Iron oxide apatite deposits, the Aitik Iron oxide copper gold deposit, and a multitude of smaller deposits. Northern Norrbotten has been shaped by tectonothermal events related to the evolution of the Fennoscandian Shield and is a geologically complex environment. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Mining Futures : Predictions and Uncertainty in Swedish Mineral Exploration

    Författare :Tobias Olofsson; Patrik Aspers; Gholamreza Azarian; Trine Pallesen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Uncertainty; Risk management; Sociology of the Future; Valuation; Justification; Mineral Exploration; Second Nature; Natural Resources; Sociologi; Sociology;

    Sammanfattning : Any forward-oriented enterprise must somehow manage the challenges posed by uncertainty and with its distant temporal horizons, high stakes, and low probability of success, mineral exploration is a good illustration of this general rule. Based on a combination of interviews, observations, and archival research, this thesis investigates how explorationists use predictions to manage the material complexities and the uncertainties that contribute to determining the future minability of mineral deposits. 5. 5. Innovative seismic imaging solutions : From hardrock mineral exploration to quick-clay site characterization

    Författare :Tatiana Pertuz; Alireza Malehmir; Cesare Comina; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Seismic methods; mineral exploration; quick-clays; seismic imaging; seismic characterization; Geofysik med inriktning mot fasta jordens fysik; Geophysics with specialization in Solid Earth Physics;

    Sammanfattning : Seismic methods are an efficient and powerful tool to explore the subsurface. It principally helps to gain information on the subsurface structure, bedrock topography, and the nature of the host rock. LÄS MER
