  1. 1. Neck injuries in rear impacts : Dummy neck development, dummy evaluation and test condition specifications

    Författare :Astrid Linder; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Neck; Injury; Anthropometric dummy; Severity; Impact test; Rear end collision; Seat; Mathematical model; Velocity; Thesis; Optimization; Mathematical neck models; Rear impact tests; Biomechanics; Road: Components of the vehicle; Road: Components of the vehicle;

    Sammanfattning : The objective of the work underlying this thesis was firstly to develop a neck for a new rear impact dummy, to evaluate the complete dummy and to specify test conditions for a consumer test with attention to AIS 1 neck injuries in rear impacts. In the development of the dummy neck, a mathematical neck model was developed and evaluated. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Mathematical and mechanical neck models for low-velocity rear-end impacts : design and validation of biofidelic tools for crash safety evaluation

    Författare :Astrid Linder; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; soft tissue neck injuries; mathematical model; dummy neck; rear-end collision; whiplash; low-velocity;

  3. 3. Neck Injury Risk in Rear-End Impacts. Risk Factors and Neck Injury Criterion Evaluation with Madymo Modelling and Real-Life Data

    Författare :Linda Eriksson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; injury criteria; rear-end impacts; neck injuries; mathematical modelling; injury probability; head restraints; BioRID; NICmax; risk factors; WAD; car seats;

    Sammanfattning : Soft-tissue neck injuries, also termed AIS 1 neck injuries, are common after low-speed rear-end impacts. These injuries, which can be long-lasting, have increased in frequency during the past few decades. There is no consensus regarding injury mechanisms; however, injury criteria have been proposed, without yet being fully evaluated. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Mathematical Modeling of the Muscle Effects on the Human Body Responses under Transient Loads - Example of the Head-Neck Complex

    Författare :Adam Wittek; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; cervical spine; transient loads; muscle effects; Hill-type muscle models; finite element analysis; impact biomechanics; mathematical modeling;

    Sammanfattning : The goal of this study was to develop and apply a method that overcomes limitations of the currently available solutions for finite-element modeling of skeletal muscles and their effects on dynamic responses of the human body under transient loads. One of such limitations is that finite element codes commercially available in the field impact biomechanics do not contain any specific procedures for simulation of skeletal muscles. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Child Safety in Car Crashes

    Författare :Marianne Andersson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; reconstructions; near-side; evaluations; frontal impact; rigid body; mathematical simulations; rear seat; finite elements; belt positioning booster; side impact; child safety; child seat;

    Sammanfattning : Traffic related trauma is the most common cause of fatality and severe injury to children in developed countries. The majority of these fatalities and injuries are caused by frontal and side impacts. LÄS MER
