1. Analysis of Structure, Composition and Growth of Semiconductor Nanowires by Transmission Electron Microscopy
Sammanfattning : Nanowires have the potential to be a very flexible platform for the design of semiconductor devices. In nanowires it is possible to form crystal structures not found in the bulk materials under normal conditions, and to combine different III-V and group IV materials into axial or radial heterostructures. 2. Transmission Electron Microscopy of Nanowires: Influence of Doping and Etching on Polytypism in InP
Sammanfattning : Semiconductor nanowires have many properties which makes them interesting for future electronic devices. The fact that they have very small diameters allow them to combine different III-V materials into heterostructures, and makes it possible to grow them on Si substrates which are the basis of nearly all current semiconductor technology. 3. Hunting Hydrogen : Structure-property relations in High Entropy Alloy-based metal hydrides
Sammanfattning : Metal hydrides have many uses when switching the energy system from fossil fuels to renewable sources, such as rechargeable batteries, hydrogen storage, hydrogen compression and thermal storage. State of the art materials for these applications such as LaNi5 and TiFe, however, suffer certain limitations such as degradation during repeated hydrogen cycling and harsh activation conditions for initial hydrogen uptake, promoting the need for novel materials. 4. The creation of antibacterial fibres through physical adsorption of polyelectrolytes
Sammanfattning : Contact-active antibacterial surfaces with irreversibly attached antibacterial com-pounds are a sustainable alternative to traditional biocides. No chemicals are released into nature and the antibacterial mechanism reduces the risk of the evolution of re-sistant bacteria. LÄS MER
5. Closed-loop strategy for recycling of starch and poly (lactic acid) into new materials
Sammanfattning : Biopolymers such as starch and poly lactic acid (PLA) can be derived from agriculture and are among the most promising biobased plastics for packaging and other short term application. Considering the growing pressure of environmental safety and limited resources on our planet, it would be beneficial to retain the value of waste products by material recycling. LÄS MER
