1. Studies of sulfatide expression in relation to beta cell function
Sammanfattning : Previous studies have shown that the glycosphingolipid sulfatide (3´-sulfogalactosyl-ceramide) is present and functionally involved in pancreatic beta cells. In these cells, sulfatide is synthesised as two major isoforms, C16:0 and C24:0 sulfatide, with different length of the fatty acid chain of the ceramide moiety. LÄS MER
2. Men in Politics : Revisiting Patterns of Gendered Parliamentary Representation in Thailand and Beyond
Sammanfattning : Male parliamentary dominance, rather than the corresponding female parliamentary underrepresentation, is the object of study in this thesis. This shift in focus implies a gendered analysis centered on men and men’s practices. LÄS MER
3. MRI Contrast Enhancement and Cell Labeling using Gd2O3 Nanoparticles
Sammanfattning : There is an increasing interest for nanomaterials in bio-medical applications and in this work, nanoparticles of gadolinium oxide (Gd2O3 ) have been investigated as a novel contrast agent for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Relaxation properties have been studied in aqueous solutions as well as in cell culture medium and the nanoparticles have been explored as cell labeling agents. LÄS MER
4. Traffic-related pollutants in urban snow : Concentrations, size fractionation, and release with snowmelt
Sammanfattning : In urban areas with seasonal snow, traffic-related pollutants such as solid particles, metals, chloride, organic pollutants, and microplastics (MPs) can be temporarily stored in snowbanks along roads and streets. When the snow melts, it releases the accumulated pollutants and the resulting snowmelt with diverse pollutants may partly infiltrate into the ground, or enter storm sewers and eventually be discharged into, and impact on, the receiving waters. 5. Be for meg også : Om forkrøpling og lengsel etter forløsning i moderne litteratur og poetikk
Sammanfattning : This thesis is concerned with the ways in which the biblical narrative of the Fall, and more specifically the predicament of creatureliness (connoting innocence as well as depravation), can be traced as a cryptotheological motif within widely dissimilar modernist poetics and literary strategies. Postsecular theory and the return to the apostle Paul in recent political theology provide the backdrop for the seemingly disparate approaches of my case studies. LÄS MER
