  1. 1. Expression and function of vascular estrogen receptors alpha and beta

    Författare :Min Liang; Kärlfysiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Endocrinology; secreting systems; diabetologi; diabetology; Endokrinologi; sekretion; ubiquitin-proteasome pathway; MIP-2; MCP-1; iNOS; estrogen receptor knockout; estrogen receptor; aorta; estrogen;

    Sammanfattning : Estrogen receptors (ER) are expressed not only in classical target organs for estrogen like breast and uterus, but also in male reproductive system as well as in non-reproductive organs such as brain, liver and bone. The functions of ER are quite well known in reproductive organs but less information is available regarding their function in vascular tissue. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Crosstalk between Inflammation and Coagulation in Acute Pancreatitis - Experimental and Clinical Studies

    Författare :Ellen Andersson; Lund Kirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; inflammation; acute pancreatitis; active site inactivated factor VII; bleeding; coagulation; factor VII; FVIIai; hemorrhagic complications; hemorrhage; interleukin-6; MIP-2; nuclear factor kappa B; tissue factor;

    Sammanfattning : In various inflammatory conditions a close interplay between inflammation and coagulation is known to exist, where coagulation factor VII (FVII) and tissue factor (TF) are considered to be pivotal players. In this thesis the crosstalk between inflammation and coagulation in acute pancreatitis (AP) has been investigated. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Role of adhesion molecules and chemokines in TNF-alpha-induced leukocyte recruitment

    Författare :Xiao Wei Zhang; Kirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; intravital microscopy; microcirculation; inflammation; adhesion; leukocyte; orthopaedics; traumatology; Kirurgi; ortopedi; traumatologi;

    Sammanfattning : Migration of leukocytes from the circulating blood into the extravascular tissue is a key component in inflammatory reactions. Leukocyte extravasation (rolling-activation-adhesion-transmigration) is strictly coordinated by adhesion molecules and chemokines expressed on cell surfaces and in tissues. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Cytokines and Neutrophils in the Urinary Tract Mucosa

    Författare :Long Hang; immunologi och glykobiologi - MIG Avdelningen för mikrobiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Immunology; neutrophils; chemokines; urinary tract infection; mucosa; epithelial cells; serology; transplantation; Immunologi; serologi;

    Sammanfattning : This study investigated the urinary tract cytokine reponse to infection and the role of chemokines for neutrophil recruitment to the urinary tract. The results suggest that 1) IL-8 and TGFb are consitutively produced by uroepithelial cells in vivo, and that uroepithelial cells are stimulated to produce IL-1b and IL-6 by uropathogenic Escherichia coli. 5. 5. Modulation of inflammatory mediators during experimental bacterial meningitis

    Författare :Hana Khidir Abdalla; Kristian Riesbeck; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Bacterial meningitis is a worldwide health problem with high morbidity and mortality mainly caused by Haemophilus influenzae, Neisseria meningitidis and Streptococcus pneumoniae. It is an inflammatory disease of the central nervous system (eNS) initiated by cell wall or membrane components from the bacteria. LÄS MER
