2. Production systems for mass customization : bridging theory and practice
Sammanfattning : Today's siruation of rapid technological change and globalization is forcing businesses throughout the world to dramatically rethink their approaches for commercial success. At the same time, customer demands for quickly delivered product variety at a reasonable price - even down to a lot size of one - is fast becoming the rule rather than exception in a number of markets and industries. 3. Structure-Property Relationships of Surfactants at Interfaces and Polyelectrolyte-Surfactant Aggregates
Sammanfattning : The first part of this thesis is concerned with thestructure-property relationships in nonionic surfactantsystems. The main aim was to investigate how the surfactantstructure influences the adsorption at interfaces andinteractions between surfactant coated interfaces. LÄS MER
4. Polyelectrolytes : Bottle-Brush Architectures and Association with Surfactants
Sammanfattning : This thesis has the dual purpose of raising awareness of the importance of the mixing protocol on the end products of polyelectrolyte-oppositely charged surfactant systems, and to contribute to a better understanding of the properties of bottle-brush polyelectrolytes when adsorbed onto interfaces. In the first part of this thesis work, the effects of the mixing protocol and the mixing procedure on formed polyelectrolyte-oppositely charged surfactant aggregates were investigated. LÄS MER
5. Exosomes and the NKG2D receptor-ligand system in pregnancy and cancer : using stress for survival
Sammanfattning : Although not obvious at first sight, several parallels can be drawn between pregnancy andcancer. Many proliferative, invasive and immune tolerance mechanisms that supportnormal pregnancy are also exploited by malignancies to establish a nutrient supply andevade or edit the immune response of the host.
