  1. 1. Effects of prolactin on metabolism - changes induced by hyperprolactinemia

    Författare :Louise Nilsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :prolactin; prolactin receptor; hyperprolactinemia; adipose tissue; lipoprotein lipase; malonyl-CoA; glucose transporter 4; retinol-binding protein 4; adiponectin; lipid oxidation;

    Sammanfattning : High prolactin levels during breast-feeding, is recognized to influence metabolism in order to supply glucose and fat for milk production. Pathologic overproduction of prolactin, hyperprolactinemia, is a condition primarily associated with reproductive disorders; however, the metabolic impact of elevated prolactin indicates that these parameters might be considered in clinical management of the condition. 2. 2. Färger, former, ljus : Svensk reklam och reklampsykologi, 1900-1930

    Författare :Louise Nilsson; Torbjörn Gustafsson-Chorell; Anders Lundgren; Roger Qvarsell; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; modernity; advertising; advertisement; light advertisement; shop window; visual culture; cultural studies; cities; commercial culture; consumers; consumption; advertising campaign; spectator; History of Sciences and Ideas; Idé- och lärdomshistoria;

    Sammanfattning : This dissertation examines the rise of an advertisement business in Sweden and the breakthrough of advertising psychology as a field of knowledge. The aim of the investigation is to show first, how the advertising landscape changed in Sweden and, second, how technologies were used in designing the different forms of advertisement that became integrated into media and public environments, during the period 1900-1930. 3. 3. QCM-based sensing using biological and biomimetic interfaces

    Författare :Louise Elmlund; Ian Nicholls; Teodor Aastrup; Jesper Wiklander; Kristina Nilsson-Ekdahl; Håkan Andersson; Susanne Wikman; Alessandra Maria Bossi; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Quartz crystal microbalance; molecularly imprinted polymers; phage display; interactions; artificial receptors; recognition; selectivity; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : The objective of this thesis was to explore novel approaches for studying molecular recognition at biological and biomimetic surfaces using the quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) biosensor technique. The first two papers focused on the synthesis and study of biotin selective polymer films prepared using the molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) technique. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Prostasomes as Diagnostic, Prognostic and Therapeutic Vesicles

    Författare :Louise Dubois; Anders Larsson; Lucia Mincheva-Nilsson; Uppsala universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : This thesis explores prostasomes and their ability to be used as a new diagnostic tool for prostate cancer. Alongside diagnosis, this thesis also suggests prostasomes as a tool for prognosis and therapeutic treatment in patients with prostate cancer. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Exploration of bacteria associated with Anopheles mosquitoes around the world : For the prevention of transmission of malaria

    Författare :Louise K. J. Nilsson; Olle Terenius; Staffan Svärd; Sebastian Håkansson; Michael Strand; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; microbiota; microbiome; vector-borne disease; 16S rRNA gene; amplicon sequencing; Biologi med inriktning mot mikrobiologi; Biology with specialization in Microbiology;

    Sammanfattning : Every year, hundreds of thousands of people die from malaria. Malaria is a disease caused by parasites, which are spread by female vector mosquitoes of the genus Anopheles. Current control measures against malaria are based on drugs against the parasites and vector control using insecticides. LÄS MER
