  1. 1. Modulation of Autoimmunity by Linomide treatment or interference with costimulation

    Författare :Annamaria C Tellander; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; oncology; Cytology; collagen-induced arthritis; CD28; CD40; antigen presenting cells; Linomide; thymocytes; cancerology; Cytologi; onkologi; cancer;

    Sammanfattning : Linomide is a potent immunomodulator that has been shown to inhibit autoimmunity in several animal models of autoimmune disease. We have approached the cellular and molecular mechanism of Linomide by investigating its effect on thymocyte development and its capacity to modulate the expression of activation markers on antigen presenting cells (APCs). 2. 2. Antigen presenting cells in autoimmune diabetes: phenotype, function and modulation by Linomide

    Författare :Eva Dahlén; Lunds universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; secreting systems; Endocrinology; Linomide; costimulation; TNF-a; dendritic cells; Diabetes; macrophages; diabetology; Endokrinologi; sekretion; diabetologi; Immunology; serology; transplantation; Immunologi; serologi;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to better understand the role of antigen presenting cells (APC) in the development of diabetes in the nonobese diabetic (NOD) mouse. We have shown that DC and Mphi that infiltrate the islets of Langerhans produce tumour necrosis factor-a (TNF-a), a cytokine known to contribute to the pathogenesis in the early stages of diabetes development. 3. 3. The significance of urokinase-type plasminogen activator (u-PA) in tumour growth and Linomide-induced upregulation of u-PA's endogenous inhibitor PAI-2

    Författare :Anita Billström; Lund Obstetrik och gynekologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; reproduction; andrology; gynaecology; Obstetrics; roquinimex; Linomide; cancer; prostate cancer; PAI-2; plasmin; Plasminogen activators; u-PA; sexuality; Obstetrik; gynekologi; andrologi; reproduktion; sexualitet; Immunology; serology; transplantation; Immunologi; serologi;

    Sammanfattning : The progressive process of tumour invasion and generation of metastases is the primary cause of death for most patients with cancer. Some of the regulatory components of this progressive process are adhesion, migration, and proteolysis. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Experimental modulation and suppression of anti-allograft immune response

    Författare :Öyvind Östraat; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; linomide; leflunomide; cyclophosphamide; mycophenolate mofetil; azathioprine; thalidomide; cyclosporin A; ciprofloxacin; flow cytometry; production; IL-2; Rat cardiac transplantation; allograft; Immunology; serology; transplantation; Immunologi; serologi;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract The objective of this investigation was to characterise the immunomodulatory or immunosuppressive effects of single drug treatment and the potential synergistic or additive effects of combined treatment with the focus on ciprofloxacin, thalidomide, mycophenolate mofetil, azathioprine, cyclophosphamide or leflunomide added to cyclosporin A (CyA). A rat cardiac transplant model was used to study graft survival and the influence on lymphocytes was evaluated by in vitro tests. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Inflammatory Reactions in Peritonitis and Malignant Obstructive Jaundice : Clinical and Experimental Studies with Special Emphasis on the Cellular Immune Response

    Författare :Johanna Österberg; Ulf Haglund; Mikael Ljungdahl; Roland Andersson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; CLP; sepsis; peritonitis; bacterial translocation; malignant obstructive jaundice; Linomide; COX inhibitor; SC-236; indometacin; T lymphocyte; macrophage; mucosa; MLN; gut immune cell distribution; mucosal injury; cytokines; TNF-α; IL-6; IL-10; endotoxin; caspase-3; apoptosis; Kirurgi; Surgery; Kirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : Patients with peritonitis or malignant obstructive jaundice (HPB+) have an increased morbidity and mortality due to sepsis. An altered cell-mediated immunity in the intestinal mucosa might promote gut barrier failure, increased endotoxin and cytokine release and bacterial translocation (BT) in these conditions. LÄS MER
