  1. 1. Ghosts and machines : regularized variational methods for interactive simulations of multibodies with dry frictional contacts

    Författare :Claude Lacoursière; Bo Kåggström; Ander Klarbring; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Discrete mechanics; Variational method; Contact problems; Impacts; Least action principle; Saddle point problems; Lagrange Multipliers; Constrained systems; Multibody Systems; Numerical regularization; Constraint realization; Constraint stabilization; Dry friction; Differential Algebraic Equations; Nonsmooth problems; Linear Complementarity; Quaternion algebra; Numerical linear algebra; Physics modeling; Interactive simulation; Numerical stability; Rigid body dynamics; Dissipative systems; Computational physics; Beräkningsfysik;

    Sammanfattning : A time-discrete formulation of the variational principle of mechanics is used to provide a consistent theoretical framework for the construction and analysis of low order integration methods. These are applied to mechanical systems subject to mixed constraints and dry frictional contacts and impacts---machines. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Environmental Research as a Tool for Change : Theoretical and methodological implications from two case studies producing knowledge for environmentally sustainable housing

    Författare :Susanna Elfors; Örjan Svane; Per G. Berg; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Action Research; housing; environmental sustainability; Situation of Opportunity; Tragedy of the Commons; Settlement studies; Bebyggelseforskning;

    Sammanfattning : The theme of this thesis is environmental research as a tool for change. In the first part of the thesis a “Situation of Opportunity” is studied, i.e. a situation when the opportunities to reduce negative environmental impacts are larger than usual. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Plurifaceted proteomics in studying cellular dynamics and action mechanisms of anticancer drugs

    Författare :Pierre Sabatier; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Mass spectrometry (MS)-based proteomics has developed tremendously in recent years and was the leading technology for many novel methods to study protein chemistry. Contrary to classical approaches based on Western blot, MS-based approaches are mostly unbiased. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Driving under the Influence Strategic Trade Policy and Market Integration in the European Car Industry

    Författare :Jan Andera; Ekonomisk-historiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Social and economic history; European market; Automobile industry; Law of One Price; Trade policy; Market Integration; Ekonomisk och social historia;

    Sammanfattning : State policy intervention in the economy has been a ubiquitous phenomenon in history. Varying in form and intensity, it has had a profound impact on trade, welfare, international relations, and political and economic thinking. This thesis provides an inclusive analysis of policy action in the European car industry. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Distributed Control of HVDC Transmission Grids

    Författare :Davood Babazadeh; Lars Nordström; Oriol Gomis; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; co-simulation; cyber-physical system; DC slack bus; distributed control; HVDC grids; power injection; topology processor; wind farms; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Recent issues such as priority access of renewable resources recommended by European energy directives and increase the electricity trading among countries lead to new requirements on the operation and expansion of transmission grids. Since AC grid expansions are limited by legislative issues and long distance transmission capacity, there is a considerable attention drawn to application of HVDC transmission grids on top of, or in complement to, existing AC power systems.
