  1. 11. Machine learning for spatially varying data

    Författare :Muhammad Osama; Dave Zachariah; Mattias Villani; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Machine learning; spatio-temporal; spatial; Electrical Engineering with specialization in Signal Processing; Elektroteknik med inriktning mot signalbehandling;

    Sammanfattning : Many physical quantities around us vary across space or space-time. An example of a spatial quantity is provided by the temperature across Sweden on a given day and as an example of a spatio-temporal quantity we observe the counts of the corona virus cases across the globe. 2. 12. Network Parameterisation and Activation Functions in Deep Learning

    Författare :Martin Trimmel; Matematik LTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; deep learning; linear region; network parameterisation; activation function; network calibration; conformal predictnio; tropical algebra; rational function; temperature scaling; network symmetries;

    Sammanfattning : Deep learning, the study of multi-layered artificial neural networks, has received tremendous attention over the course of the last few years. Neural networks are now able to outperform humans in a growing variety of tasks and increasingly have an impact on our day-to-day lives. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Challenges when Generalizing Psychological Measurements across Populations : Applications in Machine Learning and Cross-Cultural Comparisons

    Författare :Mathias Berggren; Robin Bergh; Nazar Akrami; Mikael Hjerm; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; personality; machine learning; culture; gender differences; Psychology; Psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : In order to ascertain the validity and applicability of psychological theories, models, and measurements, it is important to examine their generalizability across different assessment situations. In this thesis, I examine how the application of measures outside of their initial domain may cause complications. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Education for All in Sri Lanka : ICT4D Hubs for Region-Wide Dissemination of Blended Learning

    Författare :Peter Mozelius; Henrik Hansson; Sutinen Erkki; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ICT4D; ICT4D hubs; Digital divide; Sri Lanka; Blended learning; Education for All; Computer and Systems Sciences; data- och systemvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : ICT4D, here defined as the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in developing regions, can be seen as one of the most powerful and cost efficient ways to improve the standard of living in the developing world. Many regions in Asia have shown a rapid but heterogeneous development where information technology had a drastic impact on development but often with the problems related to ICT4D 1. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Machine Learning Approaches to Develop Weather Normalize Models for Urban Air Quality

    Författare :Chau Ngoc Phuong; Mengjie Han; Rasa Zalakeviciute; Ilias Thomas; Mario Salvador González Rodríguez; Högskolan Dalarna; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Weather Normalized Models WNMs ; Air Pollution; Data-Driven Modeling and Optimization; Deep Learning - Artificial Neural Network DL-ANN ; Machine Learning;

    Sammanfattning : According to the World Health Organization, almost all human population (99%) lives in 117 countries with over 6000 cities, where air pollutant concentration exceeds recommended thresholds. The most common, so-called criteria, air pollutants that affect human lives, are particulate matter (PM) and gas-phase (SO2, CO, NO2, O3 and others). LÄS MER
