    Sammanfattning : Neurodegenerative diseases (NDs), the most prominent example of which is Alzheimer’s disease (AD), has turned out to be among the greatest challenges for modern medicine. Common characteristics of NDs involve the aggregation of proteins, progressive loss of neuronal cells in specific regions of the central nervous system (CNS) and as a result – cognitive and/or functional decline.
