1. Vasomotor Symptoms, Cardiovascular Risk and the Role of Physical Activity in Midlife Women
Sammanfattning : Background: The menopausal transition is, for most women, accompanied by hot flushes and night sweats (i.e., vasomotor symptoms, VMS). LÄS MER
2. How we talk : aspects of communication and team cognition of trauma resuscitation teams
Sammanfattning : A trauma team consists of professionals assembling in an ad hoc manner to resuscitate a patient with life-threatening injuries. In such a team, how the team manages to use non-technical skills, such as communication is important to achieve task management and decision making. LÄS MER
3. Neural Stem and Progenitor Cells as a Tool for Tissue Regeneration
Sammanfattning : Neural stem and progenitor cells (NSPC) can differentiate to neurons and glial cells. NSPC are easily propagated in vitro and are therefore an attractive tool for tissue regeneration. Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a common cause for death and disabilities. A fundamental problem following TBI is tissue loss. LÄS MER
4. Cobalamin/folate status and its relation to cognition and behaviour in psychogeriatric patients
Sammanfattning : The aim of this study was to evaluate the diagnostic potentials of four different biochemical markers, serum cobalamin, blood folate, plasma homocysteine and serum methylmalonic acid for diagnosis of cobalamin/folate deficiency in a psychogeriatric population. The second aim was to investigate the relationship between these markers and various clinical and functional parameters of the nervous system in patients with dementia disorders. LÄS MER
5. Electronic, Transport, and Optical Properties of Broken-Gap Heterostructures
Sammanfattning : This thesis examines the physical properties of broken-gap heterostructures using a multiband k.p model and self-consistent calculations. Broken-gap heterostructures, made from InAs, GaSb, and AlSb, are characterized by a special band alignment with an overlap between the InAs conduction band and the GaSb valence band. LÄS MER
