  1. 1. Environmental Improvments of the Post-Farm Dairy Chain: Production Management by Systems Analysis Methods

    Författare :Johanna Berlin; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; environment; cheese; dairy products; life cycle assessment; dairy; production scheduling; environmental systems analysis; actor analysis; yoghurt; LCA;

    Sammanfattning : The production of dairy products is becoming more centralised at the same time as the number of different products is steadily increasing. In this thesis. the environmental impact of such ongoing development trends in the post-farm dairy chain was evaluated and improvements were suggested. LÄS MER

  2. 2. The role of biobased building materials in the climate impacts of construction : Effects of increased use of biobased materials in the Swedish building sector

    Författare :Diego Peñaloza; Magnus Wålinder; Martin Erlandsson; Andreas Falk; Johanna Berlin; Dimitris Athanassiadis; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; LCA; timber buildings; timber bridges; biobased building materials; dynamic LCA; climate change mitigation; building stock; scenario analysis; biogenic carbon; Byggvetenskap; Civil and Architectural Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : A significant share of the global climate change impacts can be attributed to the construction sector. One mitigation strategy is increasing the use of biobased materials. Life cycle assessment (LCA) has been used to demonstrate the benefits of this, but forest complexities create uncertainty due to omission of key aspects. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Exploring the relevance of uncertainty in the life cycle assessment of forest products

    Författare :Frida Røyne; Mats Tysklind; Stina Jansson; Johanna Berlin; José Potting; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LCA; wood; forestry; uncertainty; biorefinery; industrial symbiosis; allocation; system boundaries; bio-economy; LCA; trä; skogsbruk; osäkerhet; bioraffinaderi; industriell symbios; allokering; systemgränser; bioekonomi;

    Sammanfattning : The role of forest biomass as a replacement for fossil fuels and products is becoming increasingly prominent as a means to mitigate climate change. To guide a sustainable transition towards a forest-based bio-economy, it is important that advantages and disadvantages of forest products are assessed, to ensure that the products deliver environmental impact reduction. 4. 4. Managing Uncertainty in Environmental and Cost Life Cycle Studies of Building Design

    Författare :Peter Ylmen; Jesper Arfvidsson; Kristina Mjörnell; Johanna Berlin; Tomas Ekvall; RISE; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Building design; life cycle; LCA; LCC; uncertainties; method; Building design; life cycle; LCA; LCC; uncertainties; method;

    Sammanfattning : In order to mitigate global warming and address other pertinent environmental issues, it is important to reduce the environmental impact from the building stock. Emissions can be large for both operational energy consumption and production of materials. LÄS MER

  5. 5. The Weichselian in southern Sweden and southwestern Baltic Sea : glacial stratigraphy, palaeoenvironments and deglaciation chronology

    Författare :Johanna Anjar; Kvartärgeologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis the Weichselian glaciation history of southernmost Sweden and the southwestern Baltic Basin is discussed, with special emphasis on Middle and Late Weichselian ice advances and subsequent deglaciations. The main study area was Kriegers Flak in the southwestern Baltic Sea where pre-Late Weichselian sediments were identified. LÄS MER
