  2. 2. Models and Algorithms - with applications to vehicle tracking and frequency estimation

    Författare :Joakim Gunnarsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; motion models; subspace methods; radar detections; Automotive; F-ESPRIT.; vehicle tracking; frequency estimation;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis considers two different research problems; one concerned with the issue of tracking vehicles and one related to estimating frequencies in harmonic signals. The vehicle-tracking problem is addressed from the perspective of an automotive-safety application, which seeks to monitor the course of surrounding road users with the objective to make decisions regarding if, how and when to intervene. 3. 3. Rectal Cancer : Can the Results be Further Improved?

    Författare :Joakim Folkesson; Ulf Gunnarsson; Lars Påhlman; Bengt Glimelius; Robert J.C. Steele; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Surgery; Rectal cancer; Anastomotic leak; Survival; Local recurrence; Local excision; International comparison; Kirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : The treatment of rectal cancer is complex and comprises: diagnostic measures; different preoperative treatments; a multitude of surgical and technical choices; possibilities of postoperative treatments and postoperative care and follow up. In this thesis, some aspects of this complex paradigm have been further investigated. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Supernovae under the gravitational lens

    Författare :Christofer Gunnarsson; Joakim Edsjö; Tereasa Brainerd; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cosmology; Cosmology; Kosmologi;

    Sammanfattning : With general relativity as its foundation, the Standard Model of Cosmology has been developed, a model in which all matter is homogeneously and isotropically distributed throughout the Universe. We know for sure that this is not true since inhomogeneous structures such as galaxies, planets and synthesizers, are known to exist on small cosmological scales. LÄS MER
