  1. 1. Elite sprinters, ice hockey players, orienteers and marathon runners : isokinetic leg muscle performance in relation to muscle structure and training

    Författare :Christer Johansson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Electromyography; endurance; enzyme histocytochemistry; fatigue; ice hockey; isokinetic; muscle contraction; OBLA; orienteering; running;

    Sammanfattning : In male athletes from different sports, isokinetic knee extensor, and in orienteers also plantar flexor peak torque (PT), contractional work (CW) and integrated surface electromyograms (iEMG) were analysed.Single contraction PT, CW and iEMG in sprinters and marathon runners were significantly correlated to the cross-sectional area (CSA) of m. 2. 2. On the treatment of Achilles tendon rupture. A prospective, randomised study of the results after surgical and non-surgical treatment

    Författare :Michael Möller; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Achilles tendon; rupture; score; prospective; randomised controlled trial; isokinetic; muscular endurance; magnetic resonance imaging; ultrasonography;

    Sammanfattning : Only two prospective, randomised studies have been published on the outcome after treatment for Achilles tendon rupture. The controversy regarding the optimal treatment continues. In the present study, 112 patients with acute Achilles tendon rupture were randomised and all of them were followed up for two years. 3. 3. Biomechanical and neural aspects of eccentric and concentric muscle performance in stroke subjects : Implications for resistance training

    Författare :Mattias Hedlund; Britta Lindström; Peter Sojka; Ronnie Lundström; Carl-Johan Olsson; Jan Lexell; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; fMRI; Isokinetic; Motor imagery; Muscular strength; Resistance training; Neurological rehabilitation;

    Sammanfattning : Muscle weakness is one of the major causes of post-stroke disability. Stroke rehabilitation programs now often incorporate the same type of resistance training that is used for healthy subjects; however, the training effects induced from these training strategies are often limited for stroke patients. 4. 4. Long-term consequences of anterior cruciate ligament injury : knee function, physical activity level, physical capacity and movement pattern

    Författare :Eva Tengman; Charlotte Häger; Eva Ageberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ACL injury; cross-sectional design; isokinetic; peak torque; centre of pressure; kinematics; sjukgymnastik; Physiotherapy;

    Sammanfattning : Knee function after more than 20 years post injury is rarely described and none of the few follow-up studies have evaluated functional performance tasks. This thesis investigated self-reported knee function, physical activity level, physical capacity and movement pattern in the long-term perspective (on average 23 years) in persons who had suffered a unilateral ACL injury, treated either with physiotherapy in combination with surgery (ACLR, n=33) or physiotherapy alone (ACLPT, n=37) and compared to age-and-gender matched controls (n=33). 5. 5. A multi-disciplinary approach to studying performance among high-level golfers : physiological and biomechanical aspects

    Författare :James Parker; Charlotte M. Olsson; Toni Arndt; Högskolan i Halmstad; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Carry distance; clubhead speed; driver performance; golf kinematics; sports performance; strength training; isokinetic training;

    Sammanfattning : In competitive golf, the player’s ability to hit the ball a long distance affects the score in a positive way. Swing kinematics is considered an important factor in driver performance; one way of improving swing kinematics is through strength and power training. LÄS MER
