    Sammanfattning : Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is a complex metabolic disease characterized by multi-tissue insulin resistance and failure of the pancreatic β-cells to secrete sufficient amounts of insulin. Cells recruit transcription factors (TF) to specific genomic loci to regulate gene expression that consequently affects the protein and metabolite abundancies. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Mapping the proteome with data-driven methods: A cycle of measurement, modeling, hypothesis generation, and engineering

    Författare :Filip Buric; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; tensor factorization; mass spectrometry; model interpretation; sequence feature engineering; deep learning; proteomics; machine learning; data-independent acquisition; feature learning;

    Sammanfattning : The living cell exhibits emergence of complex behavior and its modeling requires a systemic, integrative approach if we are to thoroughly understand and harness it. The work in this thesis has had the more narrow aim of quantitatively characterizing and mapping the proteome using data-driven methods, as proteins perform most functional and structural roles within the cell. 5. 5. Computing abundance constraints in Saccharomyces cerevisiae’s metabolism

    Författare :Benjamín José Sánchez; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Genome-scale modeling; lipidomics; proteomics; flux balance analysis;

    Sammanfattning : The unicellular eukaryotic organism Saccharomyces cerevisiae (budding yeast) is routinely used for production of high-value chemical compounds in the biotechnology industry. To improve production yields, it is fundamental to understand cellular metabolism, i.e. all biochemical reactions that occur inside the cell. LÄS MER
