  1. 1. Immunofluorescence Investigation on Neuroendocrine Secretory Protein 55 (NESP55) in Nervous Tissues

    Författare :Yongling Li; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NESP55; neuropeptdides; chromogranins; the CAD cell line; rat; spinal cord; sympathetic ganglia; retrograde tracing; immunofluorescence; confocal microscopy; secretory pathway;

    Sammanfattning : The chromogranin family is a group of acidic, soluble, and heat-stable proteins widespread in various neuronal, neuroendocrine and endocrine tissues, where they are subcellullarly located in the secretory granules, participating in the formation of the granules. Extracellularly, chromogranins may act as protein precursors, proteolytically processed to various small bioactive peptides. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Antibody-based subcellular localization of the human proteome

    Författare :Marie Skogs; Emma Lundberg; Hans Blom; Cecilia Williams; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Human proteome; Subcellular localization; Organelles; Immunofluorescence; Fixation; Permeabilization; Antibody validation; Bioteknologi; Biotechnology;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the use of antibodies and immunofluorescence for subcellular localization of proteins. The key objective is the creation of an open-source atlas with information on the subcellular location of every human protein. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Small-Scale Dosimetry for the Testis: Applications in Nuclear Medicine Diagnostics and Therapy

    Författare :Suaad Meerkhan; Lund Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Testis; 111-In; Autoradiography; Biodistribution; Small-Scale; Monte Carlo; Dosimetry; spermatogonia; gammaH2AX; immunofluorescence;

    Sammanfattning : It is well known that the testicles are among the most radiosensitive tissue, and constitute an important critical target for both external and internal radiation during diagnostic and therapeutic use of radionuclides. In systemic radionuclide therapy where very high activities are administered, the testis may become a dose-limiting organ; often with a complex, non-uniform activity distribution and a resulting non-uniform absorbed-dose distribution. 4. 4. Bioimaging for analysis of protein expression in cells and tissues using affinity reagents

    Författare :Emma Lundberg; Torbjörn Gräslund; Mathias Uhlén; Rainer Pepperkok; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Affibody; antibody; biomarker; cell line; cell microarray; colorectal cancer; confocal microscopy; HER2; immunohistochemistry; immunofluorescence; light microscopy; protein expression; protein localization; SATB2; tissue microarray; Bioengineering; Bioteknik; Cell and molecular biology; Cell- och molekylärbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The detection and analysis of biomolecules, such as proteins, are of great interest since these molecules are fundamental for life and our health. Due to the complexity of biological processes, there is a great advantage of studying proteins in their natural context, for example by using bioimaging. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Mapping the human proteome using bioinformatic methods

    Författare :Linn Fagerberg; Mathias Uhlén; Alvis Brazma; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; proteome; transcriptome; bioinformatics; membrane protein prediction; subcellular localization; protein expression level; cell line; immunohistochemistry; immunofluorescence; Bioinformatics; Bioinformatik; SRA - Molecular Bioscience; SRA - Molekylär biovetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The fundamental goal of proteomics is to gain an understanding of the expression and function of the proteome on the level of individual proteins, on the level of defined cell types and on the level of the entire organism. In this thesis, the human proteome is explored using membrane protein topology prediction methods to define the human membrane proteome and by global protein expression profiling, which relies on a complex study of the location and expression levels of proteins in tissues and cells.
