1. Roles of p16INk a and PDGF-B in glioma
Sammanfattning : Gliomas are diffuse astrocytic tumors of the central nervous system (CNS) which usually affect adults. This thesis work has focused on molecular mechanisms of altered growth control in glioma, and the significance of two gene products belonging to pathways commonly affected in glioma, p16INK4a and PDGF-B, has been investigated in vitro and in vivo. 2. Adenocarcinoma of the cervix uteri : methods to improve diagnostics : biological markers and HPV testing
Sammanfattning : Cervical adenocarcinoma (ADC) represents about 20% of invasive cervical cancers. Implementation of screening programs that have led to a decrease in squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) has only had a limited preventive effect on adenocarcinoma as the incidence of ADC, especially among younger women, has steadily increased in recent decades. 3. A Short Thesis about Growth Factors in Gliomas
Sammanfattning : Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is the most common form of primary brain tumor in humans. Its aggressive and infiltrative growth into the brain, and, at best, only partial sensitivity to radiotherapy and chemotherapy, renders it extremely difficult to treat and survival remains dismal. 4. Interplay Between Cell of Origin and Oncogenic Activation in Glioma
Sammanfattning : Glioma is the most frequent primary tumor of the central nervous system. By using the RCAS/tv-a mouse glioma model, we have studied mechanisms controlling glioma development and the effect of cell of origin on these processes.SOX5 was identified as a brain tumor locus in a retroviral insertional mutagenesis screen of PDGF-B induced mouse gliomas. 5. Cervical dysplasia and cervical cancer in pregnancy: diagnosis and outcome
Sammanfattning : ABSTRACT:Cervical cancer is one of the most common types of cancer that is diagnosed during pregnancy. The primary aim in investigation of atypical cervical cytology during pregnancy is to exclude cancer so that further treatment of the lesion can be postponed until after delivery. LÄS MER
