16. Combined oral contraceptives : impact on the vulvar vestibular mucosa and pain mechanisms
Sammanfattning : Objective: The main aim of this thesis was to study the impact of combined oral contraceptives (COC) on the vulvar vestibular mucosa and pain mechanisms; in healthy women and in women with provoked vestibulodynia (former vulvar vestibulitis syndrome). The somatosensory perception in the vulvar vestibular mucosa of healthy women was studied with the relation to COC. LÄS MER
17. Touching cognition : somatosensory processing and plasticity deficits in mouse barrel cortex
Sammanfattning : Senses together with thoughts and experience are key factors that shape our cognition. Touch is an important source of sensory information. Disturbances to the development of the somatosensory system have serious consequences for social behaviour and may lead to many neurodevelopmental disorders. LÄS MER
18. Antibody- and osteoclast-dependent mechanisms of chronic pain
Sammanfattning : Chronic pain is a frequent condition that affects approximately 20% of worldwide population with a higher prevalence among women. Due to the lack of optimal treatment, chronic pain leads to decreased life quality as well as significant physical and psychological complications. LÄS MER
19. Conséquences d’un stress chronique sur la barrière de mucus intestinal chez le rat : effet du probiotique Lactobacillus farciminis
Sammanfattning : Background. Despite a large body of literature incriminating mucus alterations in the pathogenesis of Intestinal Bowel Diseases (IBD), structural and physical changes in the mucus layer remain poorly understood in the micro-inflammatory context of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). 20. Equine trait mapping : from disease loci to the discovery of a major gene controlling vertebrate locomotion
Sammanfattning : Assigning function to genes is essential for a better understanding of biological systems. To date, approximately half of the genes in the vertebrate genome have known function. Domestic animals are a rich source for trait mapping and in this thesis we have mapped three distinct equine phenotypes. LÄS MER
