  1. 1. Hydrological Modeling for Climate Change Impact Assessment : Transferring Large-Scale Information from Global Climate Models to the Catchment Scale

    Författare :Claudia Teutschbein; Jan Seibert; Chris Kilsby; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Bias Correction; Climate Change; Climate Models; Ensembles; GCM; HBV; Hydrological Modeling; Precipitation; RCM; Split Sample Test; Streamflow; Sweden; Temperature; Uncertainty; Physical Geography; naturgeografi;

    Sammanfattning : A changing climate can severely perturb regional hydrology and thereby affect human societies and life in general. To assess and simulate such potential hydrological climate change impacts, hydrological models require reliable meteorological variables for current and future climate conditions. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Hydrological Transport in Shallow Catchments: : tracer discharge, travel time and water age

    Författare :Sofie Safeyeh Soltani; Vladimir Cvetkovic; Bijan Dargahi; Jan Olof Selroos; Andrea Rinaldo; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Hydrological transport; travel time; water age; tracer discharge; Lagrangian pathway approach; pathway lengths; numerical modeling; Land and Water Resources Engineering; Mark- och vattenteknik;

    Sammanfattning : This focuses on hydrological transport in shallow catchments with topography-driven flow paths. The thesis gives new insight to kinematic pathway models for estimation of tracer discharge at the catchment outlet. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Hydrological modeling as a tool for sustainable water resources management: a case study of the Awash River Basin

    Författare :Selome M. Tessema; Berit Balfors; Ulla Mörtberg; Shimelis Gebriye Setegn; Steve W. Lyon; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Hydrological characteristics; Distributed hydrological modeling; Rainfall-runoff correlation; Streamflow prediction; Sustainable water management; Awash River Basin; Hydrology; Hydrologi;

    Sammanfattning : The growing pressure on the world‘s fresh water resources is enforced by population growth that leads to conflicts between demands for different purposes. A main concern on water use is the conflict between the environment and other purposes like hydropower, irrigation for agriculture and domestic and industry water supply, where total flows are diverted without releasing water for ecological conservation. 4. 4. Water and Carbon Balance Modeling: Methods of Uncertainty Analysis

    Författare :John Juston; Per-Erik Jansson; Georg Lindgren; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Modeling; uncertainty analysis; water balance; carbon balance; GLUE; Environmental engineering; Miljöteknik;

    Sammanfattning : How do additional data of the same and/or different type contribute to reducing model parameter and predictive uncertainties? This was the question addressed with two models – the HBV hydrological water balance model and the ICBM soil carbon balance model – that were used to investigate the usefulness of the Generalized Likelihood Uncertainty Estimation (GLUE) method for calibrations and uncertainty analyses.  The GLUE method is based on threshold screening of Monte Carlo simulations using so-called informal likelihood measures and subjective acceptance criterion. 5. 5. The role of roads on hydrological response : Modeling and assessment for Swedish watersheds

    Författare :Alireza Nickman; Per-Erik Jansson; Lars Rosen; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; GIS; Roads; Flooding; HEC-HMS; Sweden; Mark- och vattenteknik; Land and Water Resources Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Understanding the role of road networks in alteration of hydrological responses is crucial for maintaining the accessibility and durability of road infrastructures. Road construction is one of the most common man made disturbances to a landscape. LÄS MER
