  1. 1. Gene fusion in protein engineering : design of novel peptides and bifunctional enzymes

    Författare :Sarah Fredriksson; Tillämpad biokemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cadmium; Bifunctional enzyme; Catalytic triad; Channeling; Coenzyme recycling; Galactose dehydrogenase; ß-Galactosidase; Gene fusion; Hexapeptide; Lactate dehydrogenase; Linker region; Multifunctional enzymes; Oligomeric protein; NADH; Phage; OmpA; Biochemistry; Biokemi; metabolism; Biotechnology; Bioteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The gene fusion technique is widely used in protein engineering and in this thesis it constitutes the basis of both the construction of artificial bifunctional enzymes and the display of two novel peptides. Artificial bifunctional enzymes have been used as model systems in the studies of native multifunctional enzymes and proximity effects within these complexes. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Combinatorial Methodology. Screening for affinity specific ligands to biological and artificial receptors

    Författare :Margareta Krook; Tillämpad biokemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; peptide library; combinatorial; screening; phage display; affinity; DNA-interaction; chymotrypsin; peptide inhibitor; antibody; IgG; Fc; molecular imprinting; steroid; receptor; Biochemistry; Metabolism; Biokemi; Biotechnology; Bioteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Combinatorial screening methodology has been employed to select new affinity specific ligands to bilogical and artificial receptors. The screening methodology, in particular screening of combinatorial phage display peptide libraries against target molecules differing in function and shape, is focused upon. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Inhibition of WNT5A Signaling and Function in Malignant Melanoma

    Författare :Rickard Linnskog; Malmö Experimentell cancerforskning; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; WNT5A; Malignant Melanoma; Migration; Invasion; TGFβ; IL-6; p38-MAPK;

    Sammanfattning : The life-threatening disease of malignant melanoma is one of the fastest growing forms of cancer, affecting an estimated number of 200,000 patients worldwide every year. Although highly curable if detected early, once the melanoma has metastasized there are few treatment options and a median survival rate of only 6-9 months. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Immunological and functional properties of a non-repeat region in Plasmodium falciparum antigen Pf155/RESA

    Författare :Siddique Abu Bakar; Lars Hvid; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; immunologi; Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : Plasmodium falciparum malaria is one of the most prevalent of all the great insect-borne diseases causing high morbidity and mortality in humans. As conventional anti-malarial treatment is becoming increasingly inefficient, alternative approaches to combat the parasite, like vaccine development, are of high priority. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Wnt-5a signaling in breast cancer metastasis

    Författare :Annette Säfholm; Malmö Experimentell patologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Patologi allmän ; patologisk anatomi; General pathology; cancer; onkologi; Cytologi; breast cancer; Wnt-5a; migration; pathological anatomy; metastasis; signal transduction; peptides; Cytology; cancerology; oncology;

    Sammanfattning : Breast cancer is the most common form of malignancy affecting women in the Western world. Today, anticancer treatment can control primary breast tumors, but treatment and prevention of metastatic disease still represents a major challenge in the management of breast cancer patients.
