  1. 1. On spinal mechanisms for reflex control in man : modulation of Ia-afferent excitation with changes in muscle length, activation level and fatigue

    Författare :Maria M. Nordlund; Gymnastik- och idrottshögskolan; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Electromyography; eccentric; concentric; presynaptic inhibition; H-reflex; central fatigue; twitch interpolation; muscle spindle; Medicin Teknik; Medicine Technology; Electromyography; eccentric; concentric; presynaptic inhibition; H-reflex; central fatigue; twitch interpolation; muscle spindle;

    Sammanfattning : To control muscle force, neural activation has to take alterations in muscle mechanics into account. This thesis assesses modulations in excitatory efficacy of Ia-afferents during muscle length changes at different levels of voluntary activation and during fatigue. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Neural control of standing posture

    Författare :Craig Tokuno; Andrew Cresswell; Alf Thorstensson; Marc Carpenter; Thomas Sinkjær; Gymnastik- och idrottshögskolan; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Medicin Teknik; Medicine Technology; Posture; motor cortex; electromyography; kinematics; H-reflex; pre-synaptic inhibition; transcranial magnetic stimulation;

    Sammanfattning : When humans are asked to stand normally, they are not completely motionless. Rather, small amounts of body movement, termed postural sway, can be observed. Although the postural sway of standing has been well described, the manner in which this sway is neurally controlled and its influence in tasks involving postural re-stabilization are not known. 3. 3. Neuromuscular adaptations to muscle fatigue during submaximal isometric contractions in man

    Författare :Wolfgang N Löscher; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :isometric; electromyography; tremor; H-reflex; twitch; motoneuron; recruitment; la-afferents; recurrent inhibition; central fatigue; excitatory drive; gastrocnemius; soleus; triceps surae; tendon vibration; ischemia; Renshaw cellStockholm 1995;

    Sammanfattning : During a sustained contraction, the force producing capacity of a muscle gradually decreases. In order to maintain a constant force output, the neuromuscular system has to adapt to the contractile fatigue process. LÄS MER
