  1. 1. Functional studies of the ubiquitin proteasome system using GFP based reporters

    Författare :Kristina Lindsten; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Ubiquitin; proteasome; green fluorescent protein GFP ; degradation; inhibitor; Gly-Ala repeat; neurodegencration; poly-Gln aggregates.;

    Sammanfattning : Ubiquitin-dependent proteasomal degradation is of paramount importance for cellular processes such as cell cycle progression, transcriptional regulation, apoptosis and disposal of misfolded and aberrant proteins. Moreover the ubiquitin-proteasome system is the main producer of peptides used by major histocompatibility complex class 1 for antigen presentation. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Regulation of protein degradation by virus derived repeated amino acid sequences

    Författare :Ainars Leonchiks; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Epstein-Barr virus; glycine-alanine repeat; ubiquitin-proteasome pathway;

    Sammanfattning : The ubiquitin-proteasome pathway plays a central role in the controlled degradation of short-lived and regulatory proteins important m a variety of cellular processes, including antigen presentation and combating viral infections. The presentation of antigenic peptides derived from ubiquitin-proteasome dependent degradation of vital proteins to MHC class I restricted cytotoxic T cells is a central component of antiviral responses. 3. 3. T-cell mediated control of Epstein-Barr virus infection : viral mechanisms of immune escape

    Författare :Jelena Vladmirovna Levitskaya; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Epstein-Barr virus; Cytotoxic T lymphocyte; CTL epitope; viral immunescape;

    Sammanfattning : Mechanisms regulating the immunogenicity of Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV)-encoded CTL peptide epitopes and their contribution to the escape of virus infected cells from CTL-mediated immunosurveillance were the subject of these studies. It was demonstrated that two HLA A11-restricted CTL epitopes of EBV nuclear antigen (EBNA)-4 (designated IVT and AVF) possessed different immunogenicity that appeared to be due to a rapid surface turnover of All molecules containing the AVF peptide. 4. 4. Interaction of the genome maintenance proteins of oncogeneic herpesviruses with cellular chromatin

    Författare :Muhammad Nouman Mughal; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) nuclear antigen (EBNA)-1 is the only viral protein expressed in all virus-infected cells and EBV-associated malignancies. Similar to the genome maintenance proteins (GMPs) of other gamma-herpesviruses, EBNA1 binds to both viral and cellular DNA and controls the replication and transcription of the viral genome. LÄS MER
