1. Regulation of morphogen signalling during neural patterning in the Xenopus embryo
Sammanfattning : Morphogens such as Hedghog, Wnt, FGF, and retinoic acid are important signals whose concentrations need to be tightly regulated in the vertebrate embryo to ensure body axis development and formation of the central nervous system. We first show that the intracellular cytoplasmic protein XSufu acts as a dual regulator of Hedgehog (Hh) and Wnt signals during neural induction and patterning in the Xenopus embryo. LÄS MER
2. Il volto del poeta dietro la maschera dell'architetto : Gli allestimenti ibseniani di Ingmar Bergman
Sammanfattning : This study deals with Ingmar Bergman’s stage productions of Ibsen’s plays. Ingmar Bergman is well known for having created a new way of interpreting Ibsen in Sweden. LÄS MER
3. Mechanisms acting on Hedgehog-GLI pathway and their therapeutic potential
Sammanfattning : Hedgehog signaling is crucial for diverse aspects of animal development, essential in regulating many cellular processes and is largely implicated in various forms of human cancer. However, many aspects of Hedgehog signaling are not completely understood. LÄS MER
4. Hedgehog signaling in rhabdomyosarcoma : role of GLI factors and splice variants in signal transduction
Sammanfattning : Rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) is the most common soft-tissue childhood cancer. Deregulation of the Hedgehog (HH) signaling pathway, which is essential for proper embryonic development, has been implicated as a driving force for this cancer. LÄS MER
5. Genetic Characterization of Bone and Soft Tissue Tumors
Sammanfattning : Bone and soft tissue tumors (BSTT) constitute a heterogeneous group of neoplasms of mesenchymal and neuroectodermal origin. Although many BSTT are rare, it has become clear that BSTT are characterized by recurrent acquired chromosomal aberrations, and the general aim of this thesis have been to apply molecular genetic and molecular cytogenetic techniques to further characterize recurrent breakpoints and deletions, and to search for candidate target genes.
