  1. 1. Shear Strength of Unfilled and Rough Rock Joints in Sliding Stability Analyses of Concrete Dams

    Författare :Fredrik Johansson; Håkan Stille; Kaare Hoeg; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Geoengineering and mining engineering; Geoteknik och gruvteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The horizontal water load combined with uplift forces implies that concrete damsare sensitive for sliding. At the same time, the safety of concrete dams againstsliding in the rock foundation is associated with large uncertainties. One of themain uncertainties regards the shear strength of rock joints. 2. 2. Predicting surfacing internal erosion in moraine core dams

    Författare :Hans Rönnqvist; Anders Wörman; Hans Bergh; Kaare Høeg; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; internal erosion; internal stability; filters; moraine core; embankment dams; sinkholes; internal erosion assessment; Geoengineering and mining engineering; Geoteknik och gruvteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Dams that comprise broadly and widely graded glacial materials, such as moraines, have been found to be susceptible to internal erosion, perhaps more than dams of other soil types. Internal erosion washes out fine-grained particles from the filling material; the erosion occurs within the material itself or at an interface to another dam zone, depending on the mode of initiation. 3. 3. Wellbore stability analysis based on a new true-triaxial failure criterion

    Författare :Adel Al-Ajmi; Robert Zimmerman; Bernt Aadnoy; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; failure criteria; Mogi failure criterion; intermediate principal stress; polyaxial test data; wellbore stability; Geoengineering and mining engineering; Geoteknik och gruvteknik;

    Sammanfattning : A main aspect of wellbore stability analysis is the selection of an appropriate rock failure criterion. The most commonly used criterion for brittle failure of rocks is the Mohr-Coulomb criterion. LÄS MER
