  1. 1. Zero-Field Splitting in Gd(III) complexes : Towards a molecular understanding of paramagnetic relaxation

    Författare :Shehryar Khan; Michael Odelius; Arnold Maliniak; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Zero-Field Splitting; Relaxation; Quantum Chemistry; Molecular Dynamics; Gd III ; kemisk fysik; Chemical Physics;

    Sammanfattning : The prime objectives of contrast agents in Magnetic Resonance Imaging(MRI) is to accelerate the relaxation rate of the solvent water protons in the surrounding tissue. Paramagnetic relaxation originates from dipole-dipole interactions between the nuclear spins and the fluctuating magnetic field induced by unpaired electrons. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Immunoregulation in an experimental model of allergic asthma

    Författare :Magnus Korsgren; Avdelningen för klinisk kemi och farmakologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; allergic asthma; macrophage migration inhibitory factor; eosinophils; gd T cells; NK1.1 T cells; natural killer cells; immunoglobulins; B cells; innate immunity; allergic airway inflammation; immediate hypersensitivity; Physiology; Fysiologi; Immunology; serology; transplantation; Immunologi; serologi;

    Sammanfattning : In allergic asthma the immune response to antigen is inappropriate, leading to an inflammatory process in the respiratory mucosa. To further elucidate immunological mechanisms involved in the development of such inflammation, control mice and mice deficient in selected cell types or proteins, were used in experimental models of allergic asthma and anaphylaxis. 3. 3. Outcome of Graves disease

    Författare :Mats Holmberg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Graves disease; Mental fatigue; Depression; Anxiety; Magnetic resonance volumetry; Hippocampus; Volumetry; Quality of life;

    Sammanfattning : Graves' disease (GD) is an autoimmune condition with elevated thyroid hormone levels and symptoms suggesting an affected brain. These symptoms often resolve with treatment but, for some patients, GD results in a long period of reduced well-being. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Gambling Disorder – Suicidality, Mortality and Comorbidity

    Författare :Anna Karlsson; Lund Psykiatri; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Gambling Disorder; Suicidality; Mortality; Comorbidity; Suicide; Self-harm; Indebtedness; Gender; Socio-economy;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Gambling disorder (GD) is a behavioural addiction in which a person faces negative consequences due to uncontrolled gambling, such as financial, personal, or relational difficulties. GD more often affects men but both men and women face severe consequences of GD. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Molecular Etiology of Graves’ Disease and Associated Ophthalmopathy

    Författare :Tereza Planck; diabetes och endokrinologi Genomik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; association study; Graves’ disease; Graves’ ophthalmopathy; immediate early genes; inflammation; adipogenesis; thyrostimulin; BTG2; CYR61; COX2; ZFP36; gene expression; SCD; SNP;

    Sammanfattning : Graves' disease (GD) is a complex autoimmune disorder characterized by hyperthyroidism and diffuse goitre. 25-50% of the patients with GD develop eye symptoms, Graves' ophthalmopathy (GO). The overall aim of this thesis was to explore the molecular etiology of GD and GO. LÄS MER
