    Sammanfattning : ABSTRACTCell cycle regulation in human renal cell carcinomaYlva Hedberg, Departments of Medical Biosciences, Pathology, and Surgical andPerioperative Sciences, Urology Andrology, Umeå University, SwedenDeregulated growth control is a hallmark of neoplasia potentially caused by aberrant expression of cell cycle regulatory proteins. The importance of such aberrations in human renal cell carcinoma (RCC) has not been fully clarified. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Single cell analysis of checkpoints in G1

    Författare :Hanna-Stina Martinsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Cell cycle; restriction point; cyclin D; pRb; rRNA synthesis; cell growth; attachment;

    Sammanfattning : It is becoming evident that defective cell cycle regulation is an important property of the cancer cell. The restriction point (R), a G1 checkpoint after which cell cycle progression becomes independent of extracellular growth factors, is often aberrant in cancer cells. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Studies on the antiproliferative action of interferon : effects on proteins synthesized in the G1 and S phase of the cell cycle in 2 anchorage-dependent cell lines

    Författare :Dan Lundblad; Erik Lundgren; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Interferon; Glioma; Antiproliferative effect; DNA polymerase; Thymidine kinase; 2 -5 oligo A; Protein synthesis; Two-dimensional electrophorensis; Mouse fibroblasts; C-myc; KI-67 antigen;

    Sammanfattning : Interferons (IFNs) are a class of structurally related proteins first discovered to be produced by virus-infected cells. By now, several other inducing agents have been described. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Polyamines are involved in the regulation of S phase and DNA synthesis

    Författare :Kersti Alm; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Djurfysiologi; Animal physiology; cell cycle regulation; p53; DNA strand breaks; replicon organization; topoisomerase II;

    Sammanfattning : Our research group has previously shown that treatment with the polyamine biosynthesis inhibitors a-difluoromethylornithine (DFMO) or amidinoindan-1-one 2´-amidinohydrazone (CGP 48664) inhibited S phase progression before any other cell cycle phase was affected. This study was undertaken to further investigate the role of polyamines in the regulation of S phase progression and DNA synthesis. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Cell cycle control in G1 : restriction points for growth factors and anchorage dependence

    Författare :Peter Zickert; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :cell cycle; cyclin E; growth control; growth factor; restriction point; ECM; anchorage;

    Sammanfattning : Background: The eukaryotic cell cycle consists of four well-defined phases. During the S phase DNA is replicated and during the M phase the chromosomes are segregated to daughter cells. The time gap between completion of M phase and entry into S phase is called G1. The time gap between S phase and mitosis is called G2. LÄS MER
