  1. 6. Nonlinear Interaction Between Ultrasonic Waves and Cracks and Interfaces

    Författare :Milan Poznic; Leif Kari; Bruce Drinkwater; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ultrasonic waves; crack; modulation; rough interface; partially closed; surface-breaking; fluid-filled; Acoustics; Akustik;

    Sammanfattning : The subject of this thesis is the development of new ultrasound inspection techniques for detection of cracks that are smaller than the wavelength of the inspecting wave and the characterization of cracks in fluid-filled pipes as either surface-breaking or subsurface. The spectrum of the scattered field of a partially closed crack comprises harmonic components not expected to be found in the case of linear scatterers such as pores or inclusions. LÄS MER

  2. 7. On the Study of a Liquid Steel Sampling Process

    Författare :Zhi Zhang; Pär Jönsson; Anders Tilliander; Seppo Louhenkilppi; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Metallurgical process engineering; Metallurgisk processteknik; Fluid mechanics; Strömningsmekanik;

    Sammanfattning : The liquid steel sampling method is one of the commonly used procedures in monitoring the steelmaking process. Besides it can be used for analyzing the dissolved alloys, hydrogen content and oxygen content, it can be also employed to monitor the inclusion characteristics at the steelmakings. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Parameters Controlling Distribution of Diagenetic Alterations within Fluvial and Shallow Marine Sandstone Reservoirs : Evidence from the Libyan Basins

    Författare :Muftah Khalifa; Hemin Koyi; Joao Marcelo Medina Ketzer; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Diagenesis; Structural setting; Depositional facies; Basin thermal history; Ther- mal Hot basinal brines; Fluid inclusions; Raman Spectrometry; Stylolites; Hydro-carbon migration; Geovetenskap med inriktning mot mineralogi; petrologi och tektonik; Earth Science with specialization in Mineral Chemistry; Petrology and Tectonics;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis demonstrates that geological setting, depositional facies, open system flux of hot basinal brines and descending of shallow waters have a strong impact on the distribution of the diagenetic alterations within continental and paralic/shallow marine sandstones which in turn control the quality and heterogeneities of the reservoirs.Geological setting controls the mineralogical and textural maturity of sandstone, whereas depositional facies control the pore water chemistry (marine, brackish or meteoric), sedimentary texture and sand body geometry. 4. 9. Pores, inclusions and electromagnetic stirring : Topics from the continuous casting of steel

    Författare :Arash Safavi Nick; Pär Jönsson; Michael Vynnycky; Jesper H. Hattel; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Materials Science and Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with two topics of relevance to the continuous casting of steel,in view of their importance as regards the quality of the final solidified structure.The first concerns the precipitation of gas pores and inclusions in the interden-dritic region of the solidifying metal. 5. 10. Proterozoic to Quaternary Events of Fracture Mineralisation and Oxidation in SE Sweden

    Författare :Henrik Drake; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fracture minerals; low-temperature evolution; paleohydrogeology; redox front; wall rock alteration; stable isotopes; geochemistry; Ar-Ar dating; fluid inclusions; Mössbauer spectroscopy; U-series disequilibrium; Simpevarp; Laxemar; SE Sweden; nuclear waste repository.;

    Sammanfattning : Fracture minerals and altered wall rock have been analysed to reveal the low-temperature evolution, especially regarding redox conditions, of the Simpevarp area, SE Sweden. This area is one of the two areas in Sweden investigated by the Swedish Nuclear fuel and Waste Management Co. LÄS MER
