  1. 1. Experimental Heat Transfer, pressure drop, and Flow Visualization of R-134a in Vertical Mini/Micro Tubes

    Författare :Wahib Owhaib; Björn Palm; Tassos Karayiannis; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Minichannel; microchannel; heat transfer; pressure drop; single-phase; two-phase; flow boiling; flow visualization; dry out; bubble behavior; flow pattern.; Mechanical energy engineering; Mekanisk energiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : For the application of minichannel heat exchangers, it is necessary to have accurate design tools for predicting heat transfer and pressure drop. Until recently, this type of heat exchangers was not well studied, and in the scientific literature there were large discrepancies between results reported by different investigators. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Numerical Study on Steel Flow and Inclusion Behavior during a Ladle Teeming Process

    Författare :Peiyuan Ni; Pär Jönsson; Lage Jonsson; Mikael Ersson; Jonas Alexis; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; steel flow; ladle teeming; numerical simulation; inclusion behavior; CFD; clogging; deposition.;

    Sammanfattning : Inclusions in molten steel have received worldwide concern due to their serious influence on both the steel product quality and the steel production process. These inclusions may come from the deoxidation process, reoxidation by air and/or slag due to an entrainment during steel transfer, and so on. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Modelling of Bingham Suspensional Flow : Influence of Viscosity and Particle Properties Applicable to Cementitious Materials

    Författare :Annika Gram; Björn Lagerblad; Ulrich Diederichs; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Self-Compacting Concrete; SCC; Fresh concrete flow; Numerical simulation; Viscosity; Open channel flow;

    Sammanfattning : Simulation of fresh concrete flow has spurged with the advent of Self-Compacting Concrete, SCC. The fresh concrete rheology must be compatible with the reinforced formwork geometry to ensure complete and reliable form filling with smooth concrete surfaces. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Bio-inspired retinal optic flow perception in robotic navigation

    Författare :Björnborg Nguyen; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; robotic navigation; active fixation; visual perception; bionics; Retinal optic flow fields; gazing; optic flow; retinal flow path;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns the bio-inspired visual perception of motion with emphasis on locomotion targeting robotic systems. By continuously registering moving visual features in the human retina, a sensation of a visual flow cue is created. An interpretation of visual flow cues forms a low-level motion perception more known as retinal optic flow. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Inclusion Motion under a Swirl Flow in the Continuous Casting Process and Wire Feeding in the Induction Furnace

    Författare :Ying Yang; Pär Jönsson; Seppo Louhenkilpi; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; inclusion motion; swirl flow; rotating magnetic field; electromagnetic swirl flow generator; full type; half type; submerged entry nozzle; mold; wire feeding; melting behavior; FeSiRE particle powder motion; induction furnace;

    Sammanfattning : The thesis includes the studies of two phenomena related to continuous casting. One subject is the inclusion motion in the submerged entry nozzle (SEN) and mold when using a swirl flow. The swirl flow is generated in a SEN by using an electromagnetic swirl flow generator (EMSFG). LÄS MER
